Trainee Laboratory Technician
Pay Rate: $19.90 – $25.00/hr on W2, depending on experience
Work Type: Onsite – Williston, ND 58801
Work Schedule: 8 days on, 4 days off
Duration: 12-month contract with a high possibility of extension and/or conversion based on performance and other factors.
Additional Details: Standard Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) are required.
Raise is currently hiring a Trainee Laboratory Technician on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform quality assurance tests on company products
- Prepare laboratory reports prior to service delivery at the wellsite
- Provide advanced technical support during additive selection and fluid design
- Maintain contact with Client Support Labs, operating locations, product centers, and the InTouch repository
Responsibilities:
As an Oil Well Cementing Lab Technician:
- Perform quality control testing on cement slurries and additives
- Test properties for optimal downhole well integrity (viscosity, stability, etc.)
- Maintain, calibrate, and repair lab equipment
- Safely use a variety of hand and power tools
- Collect samples of chemical additives from the warehouse for testing
- Wear full PPE as required (coveralls, dust mask, safety goggles, etc.)
- Operate medium-duty machinery (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.)
- Keep lab work-area clean and organized
- Assist other departments as needed
- Maintain safety certifications and submit risk reports
- Follow company policies and procedures (safety, health, ethics, etc.)
- Ensure accurate and timely job deliverables
- Develop competency in advanced additive selection and fluid design
- Ensure laboratory equipment is clean and operational
- Prepare technical presentations for customers
- Perform regular audits for standard compliance
- Provide technical support to Design/Technical Engineer and Product Champions
- Perform risk analysis for safety and quality
- Participate in Service Quality Meetings and improvements
- Engage in HSE and Quality initiatives
- Wear PPE and observe HSE policies
- Maintain required safety training
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Willing and eager to learn specialized skills in O&G cement fluid design and quality control
- Familiarity with Microsoft operating systems and Office apps
- Strong attention to detail and procedural adherence
- Willingness to work an 8 on / 4 rotating shift between day and night
- Flexibility to accommodate schedule changes
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening
- Comfort in both team and standalone work environments
- Availability for occasional travel for training or workload support
