  • Contract Length: 10 Months
  • Location: Cigar Lake, Saskatchewan
    • Fly In Fly Out Camp accommodations provided
    • Rotation (2 weeks in-2 weeks out, 11 hours a day)
    • Company Charter Flights provided – Departing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
    • Contractors are expected to travel to Saskatoon for chartered flights to camp site

Raise is currently hiring a Commissioning & Start-Up Electrical & Instrumentation Discipline Lead on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.

Description

The C&SU E&I Lead is a critical, "working supervisor" role responsible for the safe and efficient execution of Electrical and Instrumentation commissioning activities. You will bridge the gap between construction and operations, ensuring that all E&I systems are tested, verified, and ready for safe production. This role requires a blend of high-level technical troubleshooting, physical trade work, and team leadership within a brownfield environment.

Responsibilities

  • Safety & LeadershipSafety Stewardship: Act as the primary lead for crew safety, ensuring 100% adherence to safety programs and site-specific protocols.
  • Supervision: Directly supervise trade crews while physically performing trade work as a "working lead."
  • Communication: Lead daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) sessions.
  • Technical Execution & Commissioning
  • Systems Testing: Modify, repair, test, and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation installations.
  • Verification: Verify wiring, terminations, and installations of MCCs, control panels, and junction boxes.
  • Instrumentation: Inspect, calibrate, and troubleshoot complex instrumentation setups.
  • Documentation: Complete rigorous commissioning documentation, including check sheets, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and test reports.
  • As-Builts: Record final, accurate "as-left" conditions on redline drawings and project datasheets.
  • Project Coordination
    • Deficiency Management: Identify, document, and track deficiencies to ensure they are closed satisfactorily before handover.
    • Planning: Support the development of detailed execution plans and provide input on schedule feasibility.
    • Problem Solving: Monitor productivity and work collaboratively with other disciplines to resolve barriers and technical bottlenecks.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 10 years of proven experience in a commissioning, startup, or related technical role within an industrial, mining,
  • Proven hands-on experience in C&SU activities, specifically within brownfield environments (modifying existing facilities).
  • Previous experience in a nuclear facility or high-regulation industrial environment is highly preferred.
  • Expert-level ability to read schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficient in standard office software and digital maintenance/commissioning tracking tools
  • Education and Skills
  • Journeyperson Status: Valid Red Seal or provincial Journeyperson status as an Instrumentation Mechanic or Electrician.
  • Dual Ticket: Strong preference will be given to candidates holding dual certification in both trades.
  • Leadership: Formal Supervisor Training or Certification is required.
  • Safety: Valid WHMIS and First Aid certifications are mandatory. A CSO (Construction Safety Officer) designation is considered an asset.

Additional Information

  • Ability to handle frequent travel to remote sites and work extended hours (up to 48 hours/week) during critical project phases.
  • As this is a safety Sensitive Role Pre-access substance testing will be required
