Raise is currently hiring a Mechanical Technologist on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.
Description
The Senior Mechanical Technologist in this role will be part of the engineering team. In this role, you will be a technical lead in translating engineering concepts into high-quality 3D models and construction-ready documentation. You will work closely with Mechanical Engineers to support complex projects across our clients mining and processing facilities, ensuring all designs adhere to the organizations rigorous safety and technical standards.
Responsibilities
Advanced 3D Modeling: Lead mechanical design efforts using AutoCAD Plant 3D and 3D Point Cloud data to develop high-fidelity models.
Design Documentation: Produce 2D drawings, general arrangements, and piping layouts derived from 3D environments.
Engineering Support: Collaborate with engineers to develop Intelligent P&IDs, HVAC systems, and building services designs.
Project Integration: Utilize Cloudworx and Jetstream for point cloud manipulation and Navisworks for model reviews and clash detection.
Execution Packages: Develop comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and detailed construction work packages to facilitate seamless field execution.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design and drafting within a heavy industrial or mining environment.
Prior experience in Uranium mining or heavy industrial processing is highly preferred.
Extensive experience with the Autodesk suite, specifically Plant 3D, Navisworks, and standard AutoCAD.
Proficiency in working with 3D Point Clouds (Cloudworx/Jetstream) to integrate brownfield data into new designs.
Deep knowledge of process piping, pumping systems, equipment layout, and HVAC requirements within an industrial context.
Education and certifications
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology from a recognized polytechnic or technical institute.
Must hold (or be eligible for) a Technologist Certification (e.g., AScT or CET designation).
