Overview
- Responsible for creating and managing a detailed, integrated plan for all LP facility work, including Operations, Core Programs, and Major Projects.
- The role ensures risks and mitigation strategies—like construction sequencing, permitting, contractor space, and material availability—are identified and communicated across all scopes.
- The goal is to ensure successful execution of planned work within outage windows and meet in-service targets.
Responsibilities
- Planning & Scheduling
- Collaborate with Operations, PMs, CMs, Project Controls, and Major Projects to optimize site schedules, reduce risks, and meet pipeline outage and ISD requirements.
- Identify and escalate schedule risks, such as permits, material lead times, outages, contractor overlap, and task sequencing, to stakeholders.
- Ensure plans are realistic, achievable, and align with outage durations and ISD goals.
- Maintain a log of critical materials, outage windows, contractor tasks, and interdependencies for proactive issue resolution.
- Act as a change agent by identifying gaps, risks, solutions, and providing recommendations to PMs, CMs, and Leadership.
- Implement approved schedule changes and updates while ensuring alignment with PM directives.
- Collaborate with Project Controls schedulers to maintain effective communication, data accuracy, and consistency, fostering positive feedback loops.
- Scope, Contracting & Strategy
- Evaluate scope and contracting strategies across Operations, Core, and Major Projects to identify opportunities for optimization at each facility.
- Example: Streamline overlapping subcontractor usage (e.g., hydrovac services) by consolidating to a single provider for efficiency.
- Review contractor work plans to assess equipment needs, durations, and quantities (e.g., reducing four 15-ton picker trucks to two if sufficient) and provide recommendations to construction and project management for improved efficiency.
- Site Coordination
- Manage site plot plans, including schedules and workspaces, for all scopes (MCI, MLO, LRF) across Operations, Major Projects, Core, and PCSLD.
- Identify overlaps in work areas and construction interferences, such as trenched cables affecting schedules or workspaces.
- Highlight safety risks from site congestion, including personnel and equipment volume, to PMs, CMs, and Leadership.
- Collaborate with Construction Management on laydown, storage needs, and road closures, ensuring issues are addressed proactively.
- Coordinate with Operations on outage management, integrating schedules and tracking necessary outage details.
- Analyze portfolio-wide schedules to identify risks and opportunities, providing insights to Execution Managers.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- With a customer service mindset, act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to PMs, CMs, Operations, and stakeholders — ensuring alignment, transparency, and accountability.
- Adapt to meet evolving customer (PMs, CMs, Operations, etc.,) needs with agility and a one mindset.
- Work with the Project Controls schedulers and integrate them into the schedule discussions with PMs, CMs, Operations, etc., and work collaboratively to ensure P6 data is accurate and correct.
- Governance
- The one point of contact for consolidating all schedules, reports, risk tables, etc., for all stations.
- Provide guidance and QA to all other Planning Coordinator areas to ensure consistency throughout
- Response for creating procedures and process required for the department.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, construction, or project controls, with a comprehensive understanding of project management principles, practices, particularly scheduling and construction sequencing and optimization.
- Experience in industrial projects, with interfaces across Engineering, Procurement, Contracting, Execution & Construction, and Commissioning.
- Strong grasp of construction activities, including understanding interdependencies, labour and equipment quantities, types, and durations.
- Familiarity with Liquids Pipelines Operations, Process plant Operation, or equivalent, including outage management and the interface between Operations and Projects.
