Site C Commissioning Electrical Engineer
- Contract Length: 6 Months
- Location: Fort St John, British Columbia
- This is a Camp Fly in Fly out Position
- Work shift – 14/7 or 10/4, 10 hours each day, OT applicable, all as pre-approved by manager.
Raise is currently hiring a Site C Commissioning Electrical Engineer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.
Description
The Electrical Engineer, in this role will provide technical leadership in the field, ensuring that complex hydro-generation systems meet rigorous safety and performance standards. This role is a critical position within the Site C project, focusing on the safe and efficient transition of electrical systems from construction to operational status.
Responsibilities
- Field Coordination & Execution: Lead and coordinate electrical commissioning activities on-site. Resolve highly technical and unusual field engineering problems by conducting independent analysis and exercising expert judgment.
- Design & Safety Integration: Develop safe engineering solutions by interpreting specifications and analyzing problems of medium-to-high complexity. Ensure all designs and field changes support successful project completion and future operational stability.
- Project Management Support: Assist management in meeting safety, cost, and quality objectives. This includes recommending payments for contractor work, preparing detailed progress reports, and adjusting work schedules to meet milestones.
- Quality Management: Work under the Professional Practice Management Plan (Quality Management Pillar). You will be responsible for applying your (or your firm’s) EGBC Permit to Practice and sealing relevant deliverables.
- Mentorship & Standards: Contribute to the development of technical standards and provide guidance to junior engineering professionals to bolster team capability.
Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in a relevant engineering field, with at least 2 years specifically in electrical commissioning.
- Specific experience in Protection and Control (P&C) commissioning. (nice to have)
- Previous experience with Hydro power generation projects. (nice to have)
- Strong communication skills – field coordination and problem solving are key responsibilities
- Proficiency in CAD systems, industry-standard design/analysis software, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Education and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng), and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network
