Raise is currently hiring a Lead, Market Systems Transition & Cutover on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our client is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description 

This role leads end-to-end transition planning, market trials preparation, and system cutover execution for a major market systems upgrade affecting a large number of Systems and market participants. The role ensures that technology, business processes, regulatory rules, and operational stakeholders remain aligned throughout the entire transition period. The initial contract will be for two years with the possibility of extension. We support a hybrid work environment, where the team is in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays are flexible for where you work best. This role is located at our downtown office.

Responsibilities

  • Transition & Market Trials Coordination
  • Provide leadership in the design, execution, and governance of market trials, including test planning, milestone management, participant engagement activities, and assessments of internal readiness for market trials.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, initiative program managers, project managers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure that trial scenarios accurately represent operational realities.
  • Monitor defects, oversee their resolution, and maintain comprehensive trial dashboards and performance reports to inform customers about production readiness.
  • Engage internal stakeholders in IT operations and business to align expectations and deliverables.
  • Maintain scheduled communications, steering committee updates, and post event reporting. Cutover Planning & Execution
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive cutover plan including timelines, dependencies, and resource assignments.
  • Lead all cutover events: mock cutovers, dress rehearsals, final go live, and HyperCard stabilization.
  • Establish risk mitigation plans, backout procedures, and contingency strategies.
  • Ensure transition activities comply with market rules, and reliability requirements

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of total professional experience in project delivery and systems integration
  • Experience with large-scale system transitions (ERP, market systems, utility infrastructure).
  • 5+ years of specialized Cutover/Transition Management: Direct experience leading "Go-Live" events, mock cutovers, and hyper-care stabilization for large-scale systems (e.g., ERP, SCADA, or Energy Management Systems).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross functional technical and business teams under tight timelines.
  • Understanding of utility/ISO markets, operations, or transmission planning environments.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Education and Skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business Administration.
  • PMP (nice to have)
