Disability Case Management Advisor
- Pay Rate: $50.00 – $60.00/hour, depending on experience

Overview
- The Disability Case Management Advisor role is assigned to support the Company absence reporting, disability case management (temporary and extended disability), the Return-to-Work process and Workers Compensation claims.
- This role also provides clinical support for the delivery of Imperial’s Occupational Health programs and services to various business units.
Responsibilities
- Perform case management activities and provide process support as determined by Imperial’s workplace policies and defined by the terms of the Company disability vendor(s) contracts.
- Work collaboratively with employees, HR, Management, Occupational Health clinicians, health care practitioners and other stakeholders to obtain information, provide claim status, and create action plans.
- Assess and understand company work environments, operations, job demands, and health hazards to support return to work planning from temporary and extended disability within assigned areas of responsibilities.
- Gather, analyze, and assess medical and non-medical factors influencing disability, functional capability, restrictions to facilitate return to work, determine permanent accommodation, or inform fitness for work assessment.
- Record, store, and maintain accurate employee health records in the Company’s electronic health records system (Cority)as required, and in accordance with Data Privacy requirements as it pertains to Absence, Disability, and Workers’ Compensation claims.
- Work in partnership with HR and Management to address absence, disability, and workers’ compensation issues and provide timely response to support resolution while maintaining and protecting medical confidentiality of the employee.
- Engage employees through open and respectful communication to understand the medical, social and personal dimensions of the disability or workers’ compensation claim, support the development of comprehensive case management plans and sustainable return to work plans.
- Conduct telephone or in person interviews with employees and supervisors to support timely adjudication of the claim or coordinate and support timely return to work, when needed.
- Coordinate with the company disability vendor(s) case managers as defined in the reference guide.
- Support the business line with Workers’ Compensation claim reporting requirements and assist with case management of lost time injury/modified work cases.
- Adhere to the Company A&D case management process, provide case management and support the integration with disability program in conjunction with department Clinical Coordinators and Company Occupational Health Manager or physician as assigned.
- Coordinate and schedule Independent Medical Examination (s) on behalf of the Country Occupational health manager, company physician, and other staff clinician as assigned.
Additional Occupational Health Nurse Responsibilities:
- Conducts occupational evaluations as required by company occupational health policies and regulations.
- Provides services within the professional scope and standards of license specific to health care of employees and other workers, as determined by Occupational Health Division Management.
- Determines employees’ fitness-for-work through clinical and evidence-based assessments that includes completion of safety sensitive/specified executive occupational evaluations (OE).
- Collects data about the health status of the employee through an occupational health history, physical assessment, and appropriate clinical screening (e.g., HbA1c)
- Assesses clinical tests and results, arranges follow up assessment, refers for further investigation, and communicates the results, as required.
- Provides emergency treatment for injury and illness, both occupational and non-occupational, as required.
- Participate in Culture of Health or health promotion initiatives within the workplace.
Qualifications
- Nursing Degree, Advanced Nursing Degree, Nurse Practitioner Degree.
- Current, or eligible for, unrestricted registration with provincial or territorial nursing licensing organization for primary work location.
- In good standing with the provincial licensing organization of the primary work location, and others as required.
- At least 3-5 years of related work experience is preferred.
- Certification in occupational health (COHN(C)) is preferred.
- Audiometry and spirometry certification is preferred.
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification is preferred.
- Completion of physical health assessment course may be required.
