Raise is currently hiring a Transmission Estimator on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.
Description
The Transmission Estimator in this role will be a will be a key player in the Transmission Stations and Lines Estimating team, providing critical support for capital and maintenance projects. Your primary focus will be on the rehabilitation, upgrade, and expansion of existing facilities, ensuring all projects align with technical standards and for the organizations strategic business goals.
Responsibilities
- Project Estimating & Planning: Develop comprehensive cost estimates and plans for small to medium capital projects/programs. Ensure all work complies with standards, policies, and business drivers.
- Project Management Support: Lead the scope, schedule, and cost management of assigned Work Packages. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary internal and external teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Technical Leadership: Act as the Professional of Record for all engineering documents produced. Apply modern engineering techniques and keep a pulse on construction cost trends and market conditions.
- Stakeholder Communication: Deliver high-level presentations on cost estimates to management. Maintain strong professional relationships with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional business units.
- Risk Analysis: Utilize advanced tools to perform risk assessments, including Monte Carlo and ValidRisk simulations, to ensure accuracy in project forecasting.
- Field Engagement: Perform occasional travel to facilities across British Columbia to support project site assessments and construction reviews.
Qualifications
- 4 years of combined experience in estimating, design, or construction of industrial or infrastructure projects.
- 2 years of direct cost estimating experience, specifically within substations and transmission lines.
- Demonstrated proficiency with estimating principles, including risk management, accuracy levels, and industry market conditions.
- Experience in Capital Planning and preparing owner’s estimates (engineering and CM). ( preferred)
- Ability to prepare substation conceptual layouts based on single-line diagrams and high-level scopes. ( preferred)
- Knowledge of other substation disciplines (Protection & Control, SCADA/Telecom). ( preferred)
- Design and construction experience in Transmission Lines (69kV to 500kV). ( preferred)
- Hands-on field experience on large-scale construction projects. ( preferred)Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Primavera P6, and @Risk
- Proven ability to mentor junior team members and maintain influential relationships across different business units.
- Ability to thrive in a changing work environment with shifting priorities.
- Education and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering (Electrical preferred) from a program recognized by EGBC.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network
