We’re Hiring! Our key client is growing like crazy and adding a Professional Mechanical Technician to their team.
Pay Rate: Up to $45.00/hour, depending on experience.
Work Location: Onsite – Houston, TX 77032
Work Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm | 40 hours per week
Duration: 12-month contract with possible extension/conversion based on performance and other factors.
Job Overview:
This role focuses on the innovation and development of casing equipment solutions designed to solve challenges during cementing operations. The position involves technically leading projects through the entire lifecycle—from initial concept and 3D modeling to prototyping, validation, and final production. The successful candidate will collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure product reliability, manufacturability, and superior field performance in demanding downhole environments.
Responsibilities:
* Innovate equipment solutions for casing equipment that solve challenges during cementing operations.
* Create 3D models and engineering drawings for new products.
* Apply industry and internal standards and/or best practices in new product development.
* Perform engineering analysis to ensure proper functionality of design at operating conditions, including calculations using standard engineering formulas, advanced non-linear FEA, and custom derived formulations.
* Sustain key products and support manufacturing by addressing requests for technical assistance.
* Technically lead projects through concept, prototyping, verification, validation, and production.
* Identify and advise on product improvements that aid manufacturing, assembly, and field operations activities.
* Incorporate Reliability, HSE, and Quality analysis techniques in all job processes.
* File invention disclosures and patents, and write technical publications.
* Communicate and collaborate with other teams, including product management, regional technical advisors, and other technology teams.
Qualifications:
Required
* Skills acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
* Experience and a strong interest in solving practical problems, from invention to implementation in the field.
* Experience with SolidWorks (or similar 3D modeling) and product lifecycle management software.
* Knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques used to make downhole tool components.
* An excellent publication and patent record consistent with experience.
* Demonstrated teamwork, effective communication skills, and collaboration in complex engineering projects.
Preferred
* Experience with engineering modeling tools, such as FEA and CFD, as well as applying physics-based principles, such as statics and dynamics.
* Experience designing and developing downhole tools, particularly casing attachments that facilitate cementing operations and/or completion tools.
* Understanding of API regulatory standards for API 10F, 11D1, and API 19OH in extreme high-pressure and high-temperature (HP/HT) applications.
* Experience applying elastomers to create down seals within a tool or as a packer in various downhole environments.
* Experience using composite materials for downhole tool designs.
* Proficiency in setting up and running FEA/CFD simulations with the ability to interpret and explain the results.
* Experience assembling and testing downhole tools for high pressure and temperature conditions, particularly cementing or completion tools.
* Experience testing downhole tools at extreme temperatures and pressures to verify product performance ratings.
