Communication Specialist
- Pay Rate: $31.15/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 2 Months
- Location: Surrey, British Columbia
Raise is currently hiring a Communication Specialist on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Communications Specialist in this role, you will support the The Learning & Development department ito assist with some work on our training standards. This position would work closely with the Lead, Training Standards. All files will be updated using Microsoft Word so experience writing in Word is required. These are formal standards and so previous experience in communications drafting messages for large audiences would be an asset. This is an entry-to-intermediate level role perfect for a writer who is a specialist in a specific style (marketing, technical, or web) and possesses a keen eye for visual design.
Responsibilities
- Content Creation: Research, write, and edit high-quality materials for corporate, marketing, and digital platforms.
- Subject Matter Collaboration: Partner with engineers, safety officers, and project managers to translate technical data into user-friendly narratives.
- Brand Stewardship: Design simple, engaging media by sourcing graphics and ensuring all materials adhere to ’s brand guidelines (typography, logos, and color palettes).
- Visual Communication: Integrate professional writing with visually appealing formats to create "total package" communication materials.
- Information Management: Maintain rigorous version control and document organization using our internal management systems to ensure data security and retrieval.
Qualifications
- 1 year of professional writing experience.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, including:
- Using and modifying styles
- Working with headers/footers, section breaks, tables, and formatting tools
- Ability to follow established templates and apply them consistently
- Experience rewriting or reformatting technical documents while maintaining accuracy
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies in structure, formatting, and wording
- Ability to work independently and meet turnaround times with minimal supervision
- Nice to haves:
- Experience as a technical writer in utilities, engineering, operations, or safety-related fields
- Basic familiarity with SharePoint or structured document repositories
- Education and Certifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Professional Writing, or a related field.
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
