Job Overview

The Senior Advisor Fixed Assets is responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of the client’s capital asset transactions, while driving continuous improvement in fixed asset processes and controls. This role supports month-end and year-end close activities, ensures compliance with regulatory and SOX requirements, and partners closely with cross-functional teams to enhance systems and reporting capabilities. The position requires strong technical accounting expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage complex issues in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support month-end close activities for the Fixed Assets team, including unitizations, asset retirement obligations (AROs), retirements, depreciation, and related entries
  • Prepare and review financial information and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
  • Assist with monthly account reconciliations and ensure appropriate documentation and controls
  • Provide support for regulatory requests and filings, including assistance with rate rebasing submissions
  • Review and assess the current fixed asset subledger setup and recommend process improvements
  • Collaborate with TIS and Unify teams to support system enhancements and future releases, including conversion of current GDS accounting systems (Oracle R12, SAP, and PowerPlan)
  • Coordinate with cross-functional departments on month-end close, special projects, and issue resolution
  • Support key SOX controls and external and internal audit requirements
  • Analyze and resolve complex accounting issues and provide recommendations for improvements to accounting policies, business processes, and procedures
  • Manage special projects and ad hoc requests while meeting tight deadlines

Qualifications

  • CPA designation with a minimum of six years of directly related experience
  • University degree in business, commerce, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, systems, processes, and organizational structures
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including use of querying tools and pivot tables
  • Working knowledge of SAP and/or Oracle preferred
  • Experience within a regulatory environment preferred
  • Proven ability to independently assess situations, exercise sound judgment, and resolve complex issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, results-oriented approach and ability to share knowledge effectively across teams
  • Ability to manage non-routine, complex assignments with minimal supervision
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly, concisely, and professionally
