Construction Manager
- Pay Rate: $64.60/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 1 year
- Location: Vernon, British Columbia
- Travel across BC as required
Raise is currently hiring a contract Construction Manager on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
We are seeking for a Construction Manager who will lead the construction of one or more large projects with high complexity and diverse scope in support of completing projects safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.
As a Construction Officer, you will oversee construction opportunities and alleviate the workload of our current CO, enabling greater focus on planned work during trouble response. Additionally, this role will assist the OMA team with switch inspections aligned to switch replacements, which is currently out of scope.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate construction activities to ensure compliance with standards and timelines.
- Support planned work during trouble response to reduce delays and improve reliability.
- Assist OMA team with switch inspections and align tasks with switch replacement schedules.
- Ensure safety compliance and effective stakeholder communication throughout projects.
- Manage the allocation of materials, financial, and human resources by using excellent technical skills in construction methodologies, estimating, and contract management in support of delivering quality projects safely, within budget, and on time.
- Ensure work site safety by prioritizing the safe execution of work by performing and giving feedback on Safe Work Observations using excellent knowledge in safety standards and regulations to improve client’s safety performance.
- Develop comprehensive mitigation plans by identifying, analyzing, and monitoring risks including reputational, environmental, safety, and indigenous relations for effective risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to stakeholder engagement by using excellent skills in communication, negotiation, and persuasive influencing so that projects are planned and implemented successfully.
- Respond appropriately to internal and third-party construction inquiries using good working knowledge of project management, engineering, and client’s policies and procedures to maintain positive, collaborative relationships with stakeholders and First Nations.
- Act as a subject matter expert on committees and project teams to develop future capability.
- Assist the project team by performing various construction support activities such as supporting the management of claims to successfully complete projects.
Qualifications
- 9 years of construction management experience or equivalent.
- Demonstrated expertise in the effective allocation of materials, financial, and human resources
- Strong technical knowledge in construction methodologies, cost estimating, and contract management to successfully deliver high-quality projects
- Experience in utility operations and outage management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
- Class 5 driver's license in good standing
Education and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Excellent working knowledge of safety standards and regulations such as Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and WorkSafe Regulations
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
