RESPONSIBILITIES
Toronto Water is continuously improving its operations and use of technologies to
meet business needs including legislative requirements. In order to facilitate these
changes and evaluate best options, the Toronto Water ITM (Integrated Technology
Management) unit requires an experienced IBM webMethods Specialist who will
develop and build integrations and assist with infrastructure improvements. One
System Integrator – webMethods Integration Specialist is currently required.
The proponent will work on application software projects for its Toronto Water
clients and stakeholders. A well-rounded specialist with experience in both
webMethods development and infrastructure knowledge is sought. There are
several initiatives already in queue that require the webMethods Specialist. This
resource will report to a Senior Systems Integrator for Application Support within
Toronto Water ITM and will also receive direction from other team members as
assigned by the Senior Systems Integrator.
The estimated duration of the required services is for a period of approximately
twelve (12) months, with a possible extension to an additional twelve (12 months.
The proponent will be required to work at 60 Tiffield Road, as assigned, seven (7)
hours per day, five (5) days per week based on normal working Business Hours.
The proponent is expected to provide his/her own transportation and carry their own
insurance.
The proponent will be responsible for carrying out the duties described below,
commencing on or about April 6th, 2026
Assignment Duties
The System Integrator – WebMethods Integration Specialist is responsible for:
1. Create or change application integrations by producing or consuming
web services using webMethods, JDBC adapter, or other adapters or
integration methods. Typically, this work arises as a result of a project,
change, or problem.
2. Develop high quality program code and webMethods configurations
within accelerated/expedited timelines, provide significant input to the
establishment of technologies, system investments, and collaborate with
other internal system organizations to resolve complex technical issues.
3. Lead and/or assist with infrastructure changes for the webMethods
environment. This is to include setup of webMethods with Command
Central and Optimize for Infrastructure in a clustered environment, high
availability, as well as version control setup.
4. Provide configuration management, debugging, and maintenance of
webMethods EAI solution.
5. Follow applicable change management and development standards.
6. Assess requests, make recommendations for solutions considering
application integration architecture.
7. Establish data mapping, identify and create error message structure,
data transformation, and implement appropriate business rules in a
webMethods environment.
8. Maintain and create documentation related to the work. Document
business process details and fields mapping between relevant
applications.
9. Utilize a provided tracking system.
10. Participate in all Systems integration Testing; write and validate test
cases, resolve production defects and verify adherence to quality plans
and requirements.
11. Analyze, make recommendations and assist in improvements to
development standards, SDLC related process improvement including
root cause analysis.
12. Perform knowledge transfer to City Staff.
Qualifications
1. University/Community College degree in Computer Science / Computer
Programming or equivalent a definite asset. Certification in Software
Quality Engineering or equivalent a definite asset.
2. Must have 5-7 years’ experience in IBM webMethods development. Must
be at "expert" level of webMethods expertise. Preference given to work in
a Microsoft Windows server environment, work with Salesforce and
Maximo integrations, and related experience in a water utility
3. Minimum of 5 years working experience with Web Services, XML/XSLT,
Java, JSON, JDBC, JNDI, LDAP, J2EE, Certificates and Oracle
databases
4. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data integration with Maximo related
application
5. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
6. Solid technical capability in a range of integration of applications and
design, transaction management technologies, and software version
control technologies.
7. Strong development and infrastructure capability with IBM webMethods
Integration Server and Universal Messaging (UM) and the associated
suite. Includes Command Central and Optimize for Infrastructure and
running in a clustered environment. Preference given to webMethods
10.15 and higher.
8. Demonstrated Working knowledge of MS Project, MS Visio, MS Office, and
one or more project or issue tracking systems. Preference to experience
with Jira.
Deliverables
1. Artifacts as per the assignment duties outlined in 3.0 including code,
configure systems, documentation, or other artifacts.
2. Documentation to assist with knowledge transfer to staff resources.
3. Other deliverables associated with the assignment duties.
4. Regular status reports.
