Instrumentation Technician

Raise is currently hiring an Instrumentation Technician on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection

 

Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.

 

Description

As an Instrumentation Technician, you will play a critical role to ensure all instrumentation work is completed safely while abiding by all safety program requirements. This role supports commissioning activities by ensuring instrumentation systems are properly installed, tested, calibrated, and documented according to project and safety standards.

Responsibilities             

  • Modifying, repairing, testing, troubleshooting, inspecting, and calibrating instrumentation installations
  • Verifying installation, wiring, and terminations of control panels, instrumentation junction boxes, and field instruments
  • Identifying and documenting deficiencies and providing input and follow-up to ensure they are addressed and closed satisfactorily
  • Completing Cameco defined commissioning documentation (e.g., check sheets, ITPs, and test reports)
  • Recording final and accurate as-built/as-left conditions on redline drawings, datasheets, and project documentation
  • Participating in commissioning team meetings including daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)

Qualifications

  • 4–9 years of experience in an industrial or heavy-industry setting (Mining, Oil & Gas, or Power Generation preferred).
  • Experience working with instrumentation installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Ability to verify wiring, terminations, and installation of control panels, instrumentation junction boxes, and field instruments
  • Strong experience identifying deficiencies, documenting findings, and ensuring corrective actions are completed
  • Experience completing commissioning documentation, including check sheets, ITPs, and test reports
  • Ability to update and maintain accurate as-built documentation, including redline drawings, datasheets, and project records
  • Experience participating in commissioning meetings, safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
  • Strong safety mindset with the ability to work within strict safety programs and procedures

Education and Skills

  • Journeyperson certification as an Instrumentation Mechanic or Instrumentation Technician
  • Proven hands-on experience in commissioning and start-up activities for instrumentation systems
  • Previous experience in a brownfield commissioning environment is required
  • Previous experience working in a nuclear facility or highly regulated industrial environment (preferred)
  • Safety certification or safety training relevant to industrial or mining environments (preferred)

As this is a safety Sensitive Role Pre-access substance testing will be required
