Pay Rate: $62.50/hour, depending on experience

Contract Length: 9 months

Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Raise is currently hiring a contract Senior Civil Engineer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.

 

Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.

 

Description

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure projects related to mining operations and facilities. This role will be responsible for civil design activities, scope development, cost estimation, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that engineering work meets project, regulatory, and safety requirements. The successful candidate will also support the development of construction packages and provide technical oversight during project execution.

 

Responsibilities             

  • Perform civil design and/or oversee the design of large construction projects, including roads, railways, airports, bridges, dams, storm/sewerage systems, pipelines, etc.
  • Be responsible for scope development, planning, and cost estimating to support business cases over the asset life cycle. Work with civil designers for CAD work in support of development of Civil 3D models and 2D drawings including all construction details.
  • Develop and revise technical specifications, work on scope of supply, BOMs, MTOs, CWPs and construction work packages.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the design work is done in accordance with the client’s processes, procedures, standards, design criteria, and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect completed civil projects for compliance with industry codes, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Prepare work schedules and allocate resources, as well as supervise junior engineers, technicians, and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Experience with civil design work supporting large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects – Experience contributing to the design, development, or execution of major infrastructure or industrial projects such as mining facilities, processing plants, transportation infrastructure, or large civil works.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Self-motivated, reliable, strong work ethic, and natural enthusiasm
  • Previous experience working on projects related to the mining industry
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements governing infrastructure and construction projects. Ability to ensure that designs comply with relevant safety, environmental, and engineering regulations.
  • Knowledge of 3D viewer software such as Navisworks, Jetstream, and point cloud technology
  • Ability to travel intermittently to northern project sites by aircraft and to Ontario locations

Education and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – A recognized degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • P.Eng. Designation with APEGS required – Must hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS), or be eligible to obtain registration.
  • P.Eng. Designation with PEO considered an asset – Professional Engineer designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is considered beneficial, particularly for projects that may involve work within Ontario jurisdictions.
  • Proficiency working with CAD and Civil 3D design environments

  • As this is a safety Sensitive Role Pre-access substance testing will be required
