Business Systems Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Business Systems Analyst will work as a part project team to provide business
and technical services in support of the project performing duties during
Requirements Gathering and Analysis Stage (in SDLC) assigned as per the
following:
1. Gather and document and/or validate business and systems requirements.
Identify opportunities for business process improvements in consultation with
business and technical stakeholder.
2. Document any changes to business requirements, business procedures,
processes, roles, and responsibilities.
3. Document functional and non-functional requirements, compose functional
design specification and others supplementary specifications including screens
mock-ups, report layouts, data flows, etc.
4. Develop use case models, business processes 'as is' and 'to be', activity
diagrams, and entity relationship diagrams by using Business Processes Modeling
(BPM)/its Notation (BPMN)/ Unified Modeling Language (UML);
5. Participate in project activities related to documenting the needs and
requirements in areas of user experience (e.g. wireframes and UI/UX )
6. Provide business and technical services to meet project objectives including
business process reviews related to system architecture, application design,
analysis, development, testing, training and implementation.
7. Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
and trends;
8. Communicate, collaborate and co-ordinate with management, business groups
and the project team to facilitate and/or deliver project documentation and
knowledge transfer.
9. Conduct studies on the feasibility of integrating technology and processes to
deliver a range of services to the client if required.
10. Work closely with the project team to deliver information software solutions
(including QA support, and leading and/or conducting UAT/training activities)
11. Prepare business operational procedures, training materials and deliver
training.
12. Facilitate rollout and support others environment management activities.
13. Track, triage and resolve project problems, defects, and issues.
14. Perform other project duties as required
Qualifications
It is important that the services be undertaken by a Business Systems Analyst who
can demonstrate specific knowledge, enthusiasm and considerable experience in
performing similar work for projects of comparable nature, size and scope as
detailed below:
University degree in computer science or related discipline, and 6+ years of
progressively more responsible experience working on medium/large-scale
information technology projects or the approved equivalent combination of
education and/or experience.
6+ years extensive experience and ability to perform requirements gathering,
impact analysis, interview subject matter experts, facilitate joint-applicationdesign
sessions and mapping of business processes.
Demonstrated experience to lead the business requirements definition
process, analyze and document proposals and requirements relative to the
design and development solutions.
6+ years working experience in preparing project documentation such as
business, functional and non-functional requirements, business process
workflow, data modeling blueprints, architecture diagrams, supporting technical
design specification documentation.
3+ years working experience in delivering digital solutions using
Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodology and frameworks; have hands-on experience
in writing and editing users stories;
Experience in a government/public sector setting on modernization and
replacement legacy system projects.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship
with clients and projects stakeholders with a strong customer service
orientation; have highly developed interpersonal skills and communication
ability to interact and work effectively.
Technical Capabilities:
6+ years of working experience in similar initiatives with extensive usage of
Business Processes Modeling (BPM)/its Notation (BPMN)/ Unified Modeling
Language (UML);
6+ years working experience in preparing project documentation such as
business requirements, use cases, functional and non-functional requirements
and specifications, test plan, UAT test cases, context diagram, blueprints,
architecture diagrams, supporting technical design specification
documentation, ETL docs and training materials.
3+ years working experience using Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodology and
frameworks and applications such as Jira and Confluence
Working experience with technical and business teams in supporting
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Security Threat and
Risk Assessment (STRA), Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA);

Deliverables
Business Requirements Document, Use Cases and/or Users Stories
Business Processes 'as is' and 'to be' (Visio/ BPMN)
Functional and Non-Functional requirements (incl. Data and ETL
Requirements, Business Rules Table, Reporting Requirements, etc.)
Develop Data Migration Requirements/ETL docs.
Test Planning for QA and/or User Acceptance Testing (UAT) incl. test
cases/scenarios/final report.
Develop Training Materials
Any others project documents as needed (TBD)
