Raise is currently hiring a Geotechnical Engineer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.
Description
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer in this role will provide high-level technical expertise, planning, and quality management for medium to high-complexity infrastructure projects. As a professional engineer or geoscientist, you will develop innovative, safe, and cost-effective solutions for the province's energy and linear infrastructure. This role involves a blend of sophisticated design work, independent study, and hands-on field investigation to ensure the long-term stability and safety of our clients assets.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Solutions: Use initiative and expert judgment to develop designs and resolve technical problems on complex assignments. Interpret engineering specifications and provide safe designs for both projects and ongoing operations.
- Project Leadership: Meet safety, cost, and time objectives by managing project plans, estimating costs, and recommending payments for contractor work. Prepare comprehensive progress reports and coordinate multi-disciplinary work schedules.
- Technical Problem Solving: Conduct independent studies to resolve unusual design and field engineering challenges. Exercise independent judgment in interpreting complex data to support successful project completion.
- Mentorship & Standards: Contribute to the development of ’s technical standards. Provide guidance and technical advice to junior engineering professionals to foster future capability within the organization.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Define the scope of services, establish basic design criteria with clients, and approve technical documentation. Ensure exceptional customer service by reporting progress against standards and specifications.
- Decision Making: Make critical recommendations on complex technical matters, including the establishment of design bases and the management of engineering resources.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering in Planning and executing geotechnical site investigations
- Experience as an Owner’s Engineer and experience with linear infrastructure (e.g., highways, roads, pipelines).
- Deep expertise in soil and rock mechanics, settlement assessment, and geomorphological analysis.
- Proficiency in landslide/terrain stability assessments and seismic assessments (including liquefaction).
- Fluency with GIS software and slope stability modelling.
- Design experience in both shallow and deep foundations.
- Physical ability and willingness to complete field work in various terrains.
- Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Haves):
- Design of retaining walls and shoring.
- Ground improvement and trenchless design.
- Groundwater, hydrological, and flood assessment modelling.
- Emergency response capability with a focus on safety-focused work prescriptions.
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering,
- P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
