Technical Systems Analyst

  • Location: Toronto, ON—Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
  • Pay Rate: $58.26/hr – $68.79/hr
  • Contract Length: 12 Months with the possibility of extension

Responsibilities:

Systems Analysis & Requirements Management

  • Analyze complex application systems and trace end-to-end processes across interconnected components and data flows
  • Perform stakeholder analysis to identify impacted groups and document detailed business and technical requirements
  • Facilitate collaborative sessions with business stakeholders to drive requirements discovery, analysis, and validation for application enhancements and new implementations
  • Define the analysis approach, including tasks and deliverables, based on project methodology and system complexity
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and system requirements for technical teams

Project Leadership & Implementation

  • Lead medium-complexity application enhancement and implementation projects end-to-end, from requirements through deployment
  • Collaborate with project managers, developers, and operational SMEs to develop comprehensive test and implementation plans
  • Oversee application implementations, including user acceptance testing coordination, deployment validation, and post-implementation verification
  • Lead or contribute significantly to large-scale application initiatives, including server, database, and SharePoint migration projects
  • May lead low-complexity projects independently with full accountability for delivery

Technical Analysis & Documentation

  • Apply advanced coverage analysis techniques to ensure traceability between requirements, design, testing, and implementation
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including data flow diagrams, system integration specifications, process flows, and configuration documentation
  • Perform data analysis using SQL to validate requirements, support testing activities, and verify system behavior
  • Analyze system performance, identify optimization opportunities, and recommend technical solutions
  • Review application designs and provide input on technical approaches from business and operational perspectives

Stakeholder & Risk Management

  • Act as liaison between business users, technical teams, and application vendors throughout project lifecycles
  • Manage risks, assumptions, issues, and constraints related to application changes, communicating proactively to appropriate parties
  • Develop accurate project estimates and plans, continuously improving detail and accuracy based on lessons learned
  • Prepare, review, and obtain stakeholder sign-off on requirements using various facilitation and communication techniques
  • Deliver comprehensive project reporting to internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies as required

Vendor & Solution Evaluation

  • Partner with application vendors to evaluate solutions, conduct gap analysis, and define integration requirements
  • Assist in the evaluation of third-party vendor solutions and coordinate vendor engagement during implementations
  • Manage vendor relationships throughout project delivery to ensure alignment with business requirements

Asset Management & Regulatory Initiatives

  • Lead enhancement projects for client-facing trading platforms while ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks
  • Collaborate with compliance and regulatory stakeholders to design, implement, and automate reporting mechanisms that satisfy supervisory requirements and audit standards
  • Deliver monthly regulatory reporting initiatives and enhancements to internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify operational inefficiencies within application workflows and lead process improvement initiatives to drive cost optimization while enhancing service quality

Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Work closely with application architects, developers, and infrastructure teams to ensure technical solutions align with business requirements
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members throughout project lifecycles
  • Share knowledge and best practices across the team to build organizational capability
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of analysis methodologies and delivery practices

Must-have Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services is preferred, though candidates with a minimum of 6 years may be considered if they have strong overall experience and skills in the required areas.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience as a Technical/Systems Analyst with increasing responsibilities in requirements management and project delivery
  • Strong SQL skills with ability to write queries, analyze data, and validate application behavior
  • Ability to analyze complex application systems, trace end-to-end technical processes, and map data flows across integrated systems
  • Proficiency in creating technical documentation (process flows, data mapping, system specifications, integration designs)
  • Proven experience with Agile and Iterative Waterfall project delivery methodologies
  • Strong requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation skills

Nice-to-have Skills:

  • Project Management experience or PMP certification
  • SCRUM Master certification or experience
  • Quality Assurance or test management experience
  • Working knowledge of Confluence and Jira
  • Experience with data mapping and ETL processes for application integrations
  • Experience with reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services)
  • Hands-on knowledge of specific asset management platforms (e.g., SimCorp, Aladdin, Charles River, Bloomberg AIM)
  • Understanding of order management systems, trading systems, and regulatory reporting platforms
  • Experience mentoring junior analysts.
