Field Superintendent – Blind River Contract
- Length: 7 Months
- Location: Blind River, Ontario
- Rotation (2 weeks in-2weeks out, 11 hours a day)
- Company Charter Flights provided – Departing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
- Contractors are expected to travel to Saskatoon for chartered flights to camp sites.
Raise is currently hiring a Field Superintendent – Blind River on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.
Description
As a Field Superintendent at the Blind River refinery, you will be the primary lead ensuring that mechanical and piping scopes are executed with the highest commitment to safety and quality. You will bridge the gap between planning and execution, overseeing both direct field labor and third-party contractors within a complex brownfield environment.
This role is critical to maintaining operational continuity, requiring a leader who can navigate workface planning processes while maintaining rigorous oversight of schedules, productivity, and safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership: Act as the primary authority for contractor safety within your assigned area, ensuring 100% adherence to all site-specific safety programs and regulatory requirements.
- Workface Planning: Review and develop detailed work plans in alignment with ’s established workface planning processes to ensure optimal resource allocation.
- Field Supervision: Provide direct supervision for mechanical and piping labor crews, ensuring all work meets technical standards and safety protocols.
- Contractor Management: Oversee contractor activities for mechanical scopes, verifying that work aligns with contract requirements and quality benchmarks.
- Quality Assurance & Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of completed work; identify, document, and manage the resolution of any deficiencies.
- Schedule & Productivity Monitoring: Track project progress against the schedule, identifying barriers to productivity and collaborating with operations personnel to resolve issues.
- Administrative Oversight: Perform daily validation and approval of contractor-submitted reports regarding labor, equipment, and material (LEM).
- Operational Coordination: Serve as the central point of contact to coordinate field activities between various contractors and the internal operations team
Qualifications
- 4–9 years of experience in heavy industrial construction or maintenance.
- Proven background managing multi-discipline mechanical work, specifically involving piping and large-scale mechanical equipment.
- Must have extensive experience working in a Brownfield Environment within existing, active facilities where coordination with ongoing operations is vital.
- Demonstrated ability to manage both direct-hire labor and contractor teams effectively.
- Core Competencies
- Ability to work across teams to remove execution barriers.
- Rigorous approach to inspecting work and validating contractor billing/reports.
- A proactive approach to identifying hazards before they impact the workface.
- Education and Certifications
- Journeyperson Status: Valid certification in Mechanical or Electrical/Instrumentation (E/I) trades is required.
- Supervisor Training: Formal completion of recognized leadership or supervisor training programs.
- CSO Designation: Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation is a significant asset.
