Raise is currently hiring a Maintenance & Commissioning Engineer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.
Description
The Maintenance & Commissioning Engineer in this role will be focused on the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment. You will apply theoretical and practical knowledge to provide engineering design, estimating, and quality management services. You will ensure that all assets—ranging from diesel generators to complex protection systems—operate safely, reliably, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance Program Development: Lead the creation of preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment, including maintenance procedures, instructions, and record forms.
- Asset Management: Support Asset Management and Safety initiatives by identifying required spare parts and outlining strategies to sustain long-term equipment operation.
- Engineering Solutions: Use initiative and judgment to analyze and resolve problems, interpreting engineering specifications for low to medium-complexity assignments.
- Project Coordination: Assist operations management by proposing plan changes, estimating costs, recommending contractor payments, and preparing progress reports.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct independent studies and interpret technical drawings (single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics) to identify potential system failures and mitigation strategies.
- Compliance & Risk: Ensure all work aligns with ’s engineering standards and Professional Practice Management Plan. Coordinate with subject matter experts and regulatory personnel to manage engineering risk.
Qualifications
- 4 years of engineering experience specifically in equipment maintenance, commissioning, or an equivalent industrial field.
- Proven experience with the operation, maintenance, and remediation of system failures within power utilities, oil and gas, or heavy industrial environments.
- Hands-on experience developing commissioning plans or maintenance programs for:
- Diesel generators and DC power supply equipment (batteries/chargers).
- Medium and low voltage equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, VFDs, switchgear).
- Electrical protection and control (P&C) monitoring components.
- Expert ability to read and articulate system logic from single-line diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts.
- Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is highly desirable.
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelors in related field ( Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
Additional Information
- Candiates in this role will be working a Hybrid Schedule (Wednesday & Thursday in the office)
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
