Manufacturing Assembler (Valve)

Pay Rate: $20.00 – $22.00/hour on W2, depending on experience

Work Location: Onsite – Houston, TX 77041

Work Schedule: 5:00 am – 3:30 pm | Monday – Friday | Saturdays: 5:00 am – 11:00 am | Occasional Sundays

Duration: 6-month contract with possible extension and/or conversion based on performance and other factors.

Additional Information: Standard Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) are required.

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for the assembly, testing, and packaging of finished products, components, or sub-assemblies for oil and gas control valves, controllers, and chemical injection pumps. You will operate as an individual contributor under close supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Read work instructions and work orders, follow production drawings/sample assemblies, and interpret schematics and engineering specifications.
  • Build and assemble various manufactured products using hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery.
  • Completely assemble, test, and package new products on the line.
  • Occasionally disassemble and repair products returned by customers.
  • Participate in Lean events and actively contribute to Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • Configure moderate to semi-complex test equipment, including setting up test stands with the necessary plumbing for pneumatic and hydrostatic testing.
  • Measure and record assembly conformance against specific test requirements.
  • Complete all required test reports and inspection documentation.
  • Inspect and verify all materials, components, and sub-assemblies.
  • Properly track and mark heat numbers and nameplates to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Properly follow all company and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including steel-toed shoes and safety glasses.
  • Report any unsafe acts or conditions to supervision immediately.
  • Maintain high ethical standards.
  • Adhere to expectations for regular attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Assembly/testing of oil and gas products, automotive repair, appliance repair, or handheld electronics assembly.
  • Proficient in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing (whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals).
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write in English to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Proven experience meeting established safety and quality standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately while following instructions.
  • Professional, positive, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Open to change, new information, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on respect and understanding for others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year in the assembly and testing of relief valves, chemical injection pumps, control/dump/check valves, butterfly valves, or liquid level controllers.
  • Experience with high-mix and high-volume manufacturing of oil and gas products.
  • Ability to read/interpret complex assembly drawings and Bills of Material (BOM).
  • Proficiency in operating assembly/testing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and presses.
  • Experience with manufacturing line setups and associated documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with little direct supervision while maintaining high quality and productivity.
