Junior Project Cost Controller
- Pay Rate: $39.11/hour on W2
- Contract Length: 12 months
- Location: Houston, TX 77002 (Onsite)
Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Overview
- The Operations Program Service team is committed to the delivery of centralized programs and services to support safety and operational excellence.
- We are seeking an energetic individual to support our program and project controls.
- Reporting to the Program Services Manager, the Project Controller is responsible for providing project services including purchase requisitions, invoice attestation, cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting on project and program budget.
Responsibilities
- Track and record costs through work orders, purchase orders, and invoices.
- Resolve exceptions or inaccuracies in forecast data.
- Support Project Managers by providing financial reporting and analysis for project estimating and contractor selection and management.
- Perform Final Cost Reconciliation.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed project and program cost reports.
- Track and evaluate project cost data and progress to identify trends and predict future expenditures.
- Share cost performance insights with the project team and leadership through discussions and detailed cost reports.
- Identify opportunities for improvement to forecasting and other project cost control methodologies and document as lessons learned.
- Execute full-cycle project controller duties from project initiation to project closure.
- Maintain an on-going, positive presence with project team members, other stakeholders, and outside entities (e.g., Construction Contractors, vendors) through professional communications.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Business Management, Engineering, or Project Management (preferred).
- 8 or more years of related experience with cost control concepts and practices on capital projects (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets, word processing, and database software.
- Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- A proactive approach to learning new processes, tools, and projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with project and portfolio cost management processes, policies, and principles.
- Working knowledge of how to assess the relationship between cost and schedule data.
- Proven ability to analyze and effectively communicate a "data story" to teams and leadership.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to present information to senior leaders.
