  • Pay Rate: $31.61/hour, depending on experience
  • Contract Length:  6 Months
  • Location: Victoria, British Columbia

Raise is currently hiring a Technical Writer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The technical and corporate writing specialist in this role will bridge the gap between complex engineering processes and practical application. With a major software implementation coming in November 2026, this position focuses heavily on change management communication and the modernization of Distribution Design procedures.

Key Highlights of the Role:

  • Translating technical Distribution Design data into clear, actionable procedures.
  • Heavy use of SharePoint Online and Microsoft Copilot to streamline documentation.
  • Drafting high-level customer escalation responses for senior leadership.
  • Ensuring frontline staff understand the "why" and "how" of upcoming software transitions.

Responsibilities            

  • Process Documentation: Collect and research relevant information by collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to generate content describing Distribution Design processes and procedures. 
  • Technical Writing: Translate and refine complex source content into user-friendly, accurate, and clear revisions in alignment with new software applications. 
  • Executive Correspondence: Prepare customer escalation responses for Distribution Design & Communications Center (DDCC) senior management. 
  • Strategic Communication: Prepare communications regarding work delivery—including initiative scope, schedule, purpose, and benefits—for consumption by frontline staff and stakeholders. 
  • Data Analysis: Analyze business reports and draft summaries of data for management review and distribution. 
  • Visual Design: Create engaging media and graphics that follow basic design principles and internal brand guidelines regarding colors, logos, and typography. 
  • Document Management: Ensure proper version control, retrieval, and safeguarding of materials using SharePoint Online and other document management systems

Qualifications

  • 1 year of professional writing experience, specifically in a technical or corporate environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint Online and Copilot.
  • A proven ability to take complex subject matter (such as engineering or safety processes) and translate it into clear messaging for a specific audience.
  • Experience compiling information from various technical sources to create unified, clear process revisions.
  • Experience drafting business report summaries and stakeholder communications regarding project scope and schedules.
  • Ability to integrate visually appealing formats and graphics into communication materials using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Advanced MS Office (Word and PowerPoint) and Adobe skills.
  • Advanced English skills (written and spoken) for a professional corporate environment.
  • Education and Certifications
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Writing, Communications, Journalism, or an equivalent field.   

Additional Information

  • Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
  • Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
