Description
As a Senior Project Engineer Consultant, you will play a critical role in ensuring that project designs are safe, effective, and compliant of our clients rigorous standards. You will bridge the gap between conceptual design and field execution, leading multi-disciplinary teams through the total project life cycle—from initial planning to testing and commissioning. This role requires a strategic thinker who understands the complexities of transmission systems and can navigate the priorities of diverse stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead and coordinate multi-discipline design teams for medium to large-scale projects, ensuring integration across structural, mechanical, civil, and electrical domains.
- Technical Problem Solving: Resolve highly technical and unusual design or field engineering issues by conducting independent studies and exercising expert judgment.
- Management Support: Assist project and operations management in meeting safety, cost, quality, and time objectives. This includes proposing plan changes, reviewing contractor payment requests, and preparing detailed progress reports.
- Standards & Compliance: Contribute to the development of technical standards and ensure all engineering designs support successful, safe operations within the network.
- Owner’s Review: Manage and oversee "Owner’s Reviews" for multi-discipline engineering work performed by external partners, ensuring it aligns with ’s design practices.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and technical advice to other engineering professionals to bolster future capabilities within the organization.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of transmission engineering experience, with significant time spent in the electrical utility industry.
- Engineering expertise across the total project life cycle, from conceptual design through to testing and commissioning.
- Hands-on site experience on large construction projects (e.g., hydroelectric stations, substations, or transmission lines).
- Experience managing Owner’s reviews of multi-discipline engineering work completed by external partners.
- Leadership & Project Management
- 2+ years of experience leading multi-discipline design teams on large, complex projects.
- Expertise in project delivery: Strong knowledge of project management principles, processes, and design practices.
- Systems thinking: Ability to understand project impacts on transmission system operations and manage the priorities of multi-discipline stakeholders.
- Excellent communication & influence: Proven ability to coordinate and influence internal teams and external delivery partners.
- Technical Knowledge
- Broad technical competency in transmission line planning, design, and construction.
- Working knowledge of integrated systems, including substations, protection & control (P&C), and telecom systems.
- Class 5 drivers license required
- Education and Certifications
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as structural, mechanical, or civil.
- P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
