Outage & Operations Support Specialist — Nuclear Sector

Nuclear outage roles are among the hardest to fill in this sector. The candidate pool is small, the experience requirements are specific, and the best people are rarely actively looking. We are building this pipeline well ahead of several significant outage events planned across Ontario's nuclear fleet in the next one to two years.

Raise is building a dedicated pipeline of nuclear outage and operations professionals for upcoming contract opportunities at generating stations in Ontario and across Canada. This is not a live posting for a single role. Apply once, and we'll reach out with details on specific opportunities, timelines, and sites as they become available.

About the Opportunity

The Darlington Vacuum Building Outage is scheduled for Q2 2027 — a major event requiring all four units to come offline simultaneously. The Pickering Refurbishment execution phase begins in early 2027, bringing a sustained need for outage planning and execution support across multiple units over many years. Beyond Ontario, Canadian nuclear utilities continue to need experienced outage professionals for planned and emergent work. The demand is real, the timeline is near, and the supply of qualified candidates is tight.

What You Could Be Working On

  • Supporting outage planning, preparation, scheduling, and execution at nuclear generating stations
  • Performing or supporting the Assessor (AS9) function and nuclear work management processes
  • Developing work plans, work packages, lift plans, and FME plans
  • Coordinating across operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractor teams during outage windows
  • Developing and delivering outage-related training programs and materials
  • Supporting commissioning, return-to-service, and available-for-service milestones
  • Contributing to post-outage lessons learned and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

  • Direct experience working in a nuclear generating station in an operations, outage, or work management capacity
  • Familiarity with CANDU reactor systems, station outage processes, and nuclear work management
  • Experience with OPG work management systems including AS9, work orders, and work protection is a strong asset
  • Prior licensed operations experience — Shift Supervisor, Control Room Operator, or equivalent — is highly valued
  • Strong ability to work effectively in time-critical, high-pressure environments

Why Apply Now

Outage roles activate fast and close fast. By the time a role is formally posted, the window to assess and place candidates is already tight. The professionals who get placed are the ones we already know — whose backgrounds we have assessed, whose clearances are in order, and whose availability we understand ahead of time.

If you have worked at OPG, Bruce Power, Point Lepreau, or any other CANDU facility in operations, outage coordination, training, or work management — we want to hear from you.

Location: Ontario nuclear sites — Pickering, Darlington, Tiverton, and others — primarily onsite

Contract Length: Typically 6 to 24 months, with strong likelihood of extension
