  • Pay Rate: $50 – $57/hour (on W2)
  • Contract Length: 12 months
  • Location: Calgary, AB T2P 0G4 (Onsite)

Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Overview

  • Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer based in Calgary, AB, with a mechanical engineering background to manage and develop the quality management system across design, construction, and project management activities. This role defines and executes inspection, qualification, and appraisal requirements, and independently judges compliance with quality standards within and outside the organization. The Quality Engineer serves as the primary liaison with client and third-party inspectors and works across departments to implement corrective and preventive actions that resolve non-conformances. This is a foundational engineering position suited to a mechanical engineer who is a licensed Professional Engineer or eligible to become one, looking to build core quality competency while contributing to small projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Project Quality Management System, establishing procedures, plans, and work instructions as needed.
  • Monitor implementation of the Asset, Project, or Function Quality Management System through regular audits and reviews.
  • Judge and assess compliance with quality requirements within and outside the organization, driving corrective and preventive actions from responsible departments to resolve non-conformances.
  • Host and serve as the chief liaison with client and third-party inspectors.
  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure quality performance across project phases.
  • Ensure QA requirements are incorporated into documents, contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Participate in technical HSE and integrity reviews, providing quality input.
  • Monitor and report on compliance and non-conformities, maintaining relevant quality records.
  • Identify and manage risks that could impact achieving quality objectives.
  • Support senior engineers while building core competency and taking on work on small projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation, or eligible to obtain P.Eng prior to start date.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Broad QA experience spanning Design, Construction, and Project Management.
  • Able to work independently or with minimal direction in some situations.
  • Takes technical initiative and applies knowledge quickly to achieve technical success.
  • Able to provide assistance and support to more senior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Downhole tool experience.
  • Experience or specialization in materials science.
  • Experience in metrology.
  • Design or drafting experience.
