Business Intelligence Developer
Pay Rate: $70-85hour, depending on experience
Contract Length: 1 Year
Location: Burnaby, BC
Hybrid Work Arrangement: 3 days virtual and 2 days in person
Anticipated Start date: November 1, 2026
Raise is currently hiring a Business Intelligence Developer on behalf of our client. Our client, a partnership of 12 municipalities – one Electoral Area and one treaty First Nation. That collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services with its core services being drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste management.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting modern business intelligence and analytics solutions. This includes working with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Medallion Architecture, data warehouses, data pipelines, data integration, data modeling, and Power BI.
This is an opportunity to join an IT Data Analytics team focused on modernizing analytics and data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, SSIS, SQL Database, and Power BI.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal corporate clients to translate business requirements into technical solutions and develop end-to-end data integration, analytics, and reporting solutions.
Responsibilities
- Requirements & Technical Design: Translate business requirements into technical specifications, technical designs, and data solutions.
- Data & Analytics Architecture: Design and develop analytics solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Medallion Architecture, data lakes, data warehouses, and analytical data stores.
- Data Integration: Build end-to-end data integration solutions, including data ingestion, transformation, loading, and ETL processes.
- Data Pipelines: Develop pipelines using Fabric Data Factory, Dataflows, notebooks, and SSIS where appropriate.
- Data Modeling: Design data models and semantic models based on technical specifications.
- Data Quality & Monitoring: Implement error handling, monitoring, and data quality controls to support reliable data solutions.
- Power BI Development: Design and develop Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, security configurations, and workspace solutions.
- Reporting Automation: Configure data source refreshes and support automated reporting solutions.
- Fabric Development: Explore and leverage advanced Microsoft Fabric capabilities for analytics, reporting, and data engineering.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Troubleshoot day-to-day issues involving Microsoft Fabric, data warehouses, data pipelines, data integration, and reporting solutions.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Establish effective working relationships with internal corporate clients and provide technical advice and assistance related to BI and data analytics.
Qualifications
Core Technical Experience
- Extensive experience developing business intelligence and analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric; experience with Microsoft Power Platform is preferred.
- Experience designing and implementing reusable on-premise Data Warehouse frameworks.
- Strong understanding of cloud design considerations for data storage and processing.
- Strong experience with data modeling and semantic modeling.
- Extensive experience building data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Extensive development experience with:
- Microsoft Fabric
- SSIS
- SQL Server / SQL Database
- REST APIs
- OLAP cubes
- BI and analytics tools
- Power BI
- Advanced experience with Power BI Service, including Dataflows and DataMarts.
- Experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards, including report automation and data source refresh configurations.
- Experience analyzing source systems and identifying data transformation requirements.
- Experience with Fabric Lakehouses, Data Warehouses, OneLake, and Medallion Architecture.
- Ability to prepare technical designs and detailed technical specifications.
