Job Overview
- We are seeking an experienced Civil Drafter to support Engineering and Operations teams through the development, maintenance, and revision of technical drawings for pipeline and facility assets. This role requires a strong drafting background within the oil and gas industry and the ability to collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines while translating field information, project requirements, and engineering concepts into accurate, compliant design documentation.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain engineering drawings across mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and structural disciplines.
- Translate engineering concepts, project deliverables, field redlines, and design changes into accurate CAD drawings and technical documentation.
- Review and incorporate site markups, photographs, field sketches, and as-built information into final drawing packages.
- Ensure all drawings comply with established drafting standards, company requirements, and applicable industry practices.
- Prepare and support Issued for Construction (IFC) and As-Built drawing packages.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, field personnel, operations teams, and external service providers to ensure alignment and design accuracy.
- Maintain drawing control, revision histories, and project documentation throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Support multiple concurrent projects while meeting quality, schedule, and delivery expectations.
- Analyze and resolve drawing discrepancies by interpreting incomplete, evolving, or conflicting project information.
- Contribute to the accuracy of Process Safety Information (PSI) and overall project execution excellence.
- Interface with internal stakeholders and contractors to ensure consistency and quality across all engineering documentation.
Working Relationships
- The Civil Drafter will work closely with:
- Engineering Drawing teams to coordinate drafting activities and project deliverables.
- Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams to clarify design intent, field conditions, and project requirements.
- Asset Information Management, Process Safety Information (PSI), and Engineering Records groups to ensure documentation integrity and standards compliance.
- External EPC firms, contractors, vendors, and drafting service providers to support project execution and deliverable quality.
Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum 5+ years of drafting experience within the oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrated experience working across multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Revit or similar design tools is considered an asset.
- Experience developing and updating P&IDs, plot plans, facility layouts, equipment drawings, and related engineering documentation.
- Ability to interpret field redlines, site photographs, as-built information, and project documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently within a contract, remote, or distributed team environment.
Preferred
- Experience working with engineering drawing management systems and drafting standards within large industrial environments.
- Familiarity with pipeline and facility operations.
- Knowledge of instrumentation systems, control systems, and equipment tagging conventions.
- Experience supporting brownfield and greenfield capital projects.
- Understanding of document control processes, engineering records management, and as-built documentation.
