Senior Laboratory Technician

  • Pay Rate: $35 – $40.83/hour (on W2)
  • Contract Length: 12 months
  • Location: Spring, TX 77389 (Onsite)

Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Overview

You run the tests that tell researchers what works. In this role, you test polymers, reservoir rock, drilling fluids, and other solids, gases, and liquids using established methods. You work hands-on with high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) equipment, rheology, tribology, and analytical instruments like laser particle size analysis (LPSA). You report what you find, clearly and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of physical testing, as well as characterization principles for solids, gases and liquids such as polymers, reservoir rock and fluids, etc.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in operating high pressure high temperature process testing equipment as well as basic physical tests and at least one analytical characterization technique, such as microscopy, spectroscopy, rheology, etc.
  • Maintains clear and consistent communication with researchers and team members to ensure effective collaboration, timely updates on research progress, and alignment of project goals.
  • Knows and adheres to operational integrity by consistently following safety protocols, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Analyzes results using reference data and established interpretation methods to ensure process accuracy and product quality.
  • Reports data / findings clearly and promptly, documenting all relevant data.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a laboratory environment within the oil and gas industry.
  • Physical/Process Testing experience – Flow through (high temperature and high-pressure systems as well as reservoir rock, permeability and differential pressure).
  • Great communication skills and ability to put together reports, sharing findings and work closely with researchers.
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Highly safety conscious – working in a lab setting with dangerous chemicals, line of fire and energy isolation practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Experience reading flow diagrams
  • Experience with Rheology, tribology or microscopy
  • Experience using Visio
