Field Engineer
- Pay Rate: $100.00/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 9 months
- Location: Port Hope, Ontario
Raise is currently hiring a Field Engineer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.
Description
The Field Engineer will support the execution of capital and sustaining projects primarily at our southern Ontario sites, with a strong preference for candidates located near Port Hope, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and will act as the link between engineering design and field execution, ensuring construction and commissioning activities meet all engineering standards, codes, and specifications. The field engineer will work closely with contractors to resolve issues, ensuring projects progress as planned.
Responsibilities
Site Engineering Support & Technical Oversight
- Provide technical engineering information to construction and commissioning teams to ensure compliance with design intent and applicable standards.
- Coordinate resolution of site engineering issues, engaging with the corporate engineering team and other parties on an as-needed basis.
- Obtain and verify site information to support engineering design and ensure designs reflect actual site conditions.
- Review construction packages, specifications, and drawings upon arrival at site; resolve discrepancies before they impact execution.
- Facilitate and participate in constructability reviews as required.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Monitor and manage the quality of work performed by site vendors and contractors, ensuring adherence to specifications, tolerances, and material requirements.
- Review, amend, and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) provided by contractors; ensure contractor compliance with hold points and field inspection milestones.
- Review dispositions related to proposed changes, non-conformances, and other construction-related technical problems.
- Ensure construction re-work and non-conformances are tracked and reported.
- Review technical completion of documents prior to turnover to operations, ensuring work was constructed as per design intent.
- Ensure drawings are kept up-to-date with all approved field changes and red-lined markups.
Field Coordination & Communication
- Ensure Requests for Information are resolved efficiently (within 24–48 hours or provide progress updates for complex issues).
- Support Project Manager and Project Engineer in preparation of and updates to construction and procurement packages.
- Provide clarifications to contractors regarding design information and monitor field changes.
- Coordinate construction turnover in compliance with the Project Commissioning procedure.
- Inspection & Compliance
- Periodically inspect facilities under construction from an engineering perspective and/or arrange for inspection by design engineers.
- Monitor contractor’s quality control program throughout construction and report deficiencies as needed.
- Verify through daily inspections and review of test results that proper record keeping is implemented by contractors.
Qualifications:
- 8–12 years of engineering experience, preferably in industrial, mining, or construction environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; suitable combinations of experience and education will be considered as an alternative.
- P.Eng Designation with APEGS
- P.Eng Designation with PEO
- Demonstrated experience supporting field engineering activities and construction quality assurance.
- Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with site teams, contractors, and engineering groups.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and compliance.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and QA/QC documentation.
Additional Information
- Candidates located near Port Hope, Ontario are preferred as the work is expected to be mainly on site, Monday-Friday basis.
- As this is a safety Sensitive Role Pre-access substance testing will be required
