Casual Farm Worker (Seasonal)
- Pay Rate: $16.50/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 1 month
- Location: Kamsack, SK S0A 1S0 (Onsite)
- Work Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM | 30-minute lunch break
Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Overview
- In the event of adverse weather, workers who report for duty will be paid in full, even if the workday is shortened.
- While efforts are made to keep workers dry and comfortable, some exposure to rain or mud may occur.
- In total there are 6 fields. and the travel time from pick up point to field may range from 30 min to 2 hrs.
- Travel time will be counted as working time.
- Transportation Notice: Late arrivals may miss the transportation service, as it departs promptly at 7:00 AM.
- Cleaned closed shoes (no steel toed shoe) is mandatory (excessively dirty shoes may result in the worker being denied access to the field)
- Workers may need to bring Gloves from their end.
- Sunscreen and spay for bugs are provided.
- 8hr regular work and 30 min lunch break.
- Lunch is not provided, and workers are required to bring their own.
- Workers need to bring their water bottles, due to limited resources available at the working site.
- The field of work do not have portable toilets. Please note that in case of emergency the arrangements can be made by the client.
- There is also a possibility the assignments for all workers may end prior to 7/15.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual field work focused on weed removal (hoeing, hand-pulling) across assigned area with care and consistency.
- Follow specific instructions and work plans provided by Summer Associates or Agronomists, completing assigned areas each day to the expected standard.
- Maintain attention to detail to identify and remove target weeds while minimizing crop disturbance or damage.
- Use provided or approved hand tools safely and responsibly.
- Report any damaged or missing equipment immediately.
Qualification
- Good communication skills are required
- Demonstrate reliability by maintaining regular attendance and notifying supervisors as early as possible of absences or delays.
Expectations
- Start time: 7:00 AM. à Arrive at pick-up location on time and sign in by 6:45 AM to allow time to sanitize footwear; van leaves pick-up location at 7:00 AM sharp.
- Bring a packed lunch, filled water bottle(s), and a clean pair of sturdy, closed-toe footwear for the field (sandals are not permitted).
- Keep the worksite and break areas clean: dispose of waste properly and clean up after lunch.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with supervisors and team members about task progress, issues, or safety concerns.
- Follow all safety protocols, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and perform tasks in a manner that prioritizes personal and team safety.
