Job Overview:
- The Senior Specialist, Supply Chain Contracts Center provides advanced contract management and commercial contracting support across a broad portfolio of supplier agreements. This role is responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing complex contractual arrangements using approved templates, established legal positions, corporate policies, and industry best practices. Acting as a trusted advisor to Supply Chain Management (SCM), business stakeholders, and suppliers, the incumbent ensures contracting activities are executed efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with organizational risk, compliance, and governance requirements.
- The position plays a critical role in facilitating supplier negotiations, advising on contract strategy and contract type selection, supporting supplier onboarding requirements, and driving contract execution readiness while collaborating closely with Legal, Risk, Insurance, Tax, Safety, and other cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently draft, review, revise, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreements, service agreements, master agreements, and supplier-provided contracts.
- Analyze supplier contract redlines and develop practical, risk-based responses utilizing approved templates, fallback provisions, precedent agreements, and established legal guidance.
- Lead and support contract negotiations with suppliers, balancing commercial objectives with risk management considerations while escalating non-standard, high-risk, or business-critical issues for appropriate review and approval.
- Advise SCM professionals and business stakeholders on contract strategy and contract type selection by evaluating scope, commercial value, risk profile, business requirements, entity considerations, and applicable governance requirements.
- Coordinate input and alignment across Legal, Risk, Insurance, Safety, Tax, Category Management, Contract Owners, and other stakeholders to resolve contractual issues and achieve timely agreement execution.
- Engage with business stakeholders to gather and validate critical contracting information, including scope of work, urgency, commercial context, legal entity requirements, contract ownership, and risk acceptance positions.
- Maintain comprehensive contract documentation and records, including negotiation history, approved deviations, legal guidance, business decisions, execution status, and audit-ready contract files within designated contract management systems.
- Manage contract lifecycle activities in Oracle and related systems, including contract creation, record maintenance, workflow tracking, execution support, document storage, and transition of finalized agreements to procurement and operational teams.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve contracting processes, templates, clause libraries, playbooks, supplier onboarding practices, negotiation strategies, and master agreement utilization to enhance efficiency and consistency.
- Champion compliance with company policies, governance frameworks, contracting standards, and best practices while promoting consistent application of approved contract language and risk management principles across all SCM contracting activities.
Scope and Dimensions:
- Operates independently on complex, high-value, time-sensitive, and business-critical contracting matters requiring sound judgment and strong stakeholder management skills.
- Exercises discretion in assessing contractual risks, determining appropriate negotiation positions, and identifying issues requiring escalation to Legal or senior SCM leadership.
- Supports a diverse portfolio of contracting activities across corporate functions, operations, projects, direct category management, joint ventures, engineering, construction, consulting, materials, field services, and other procurement categories.
- Manages multiple concurrent contracts and negotiations while ensuring timely communication, accurate status reporting, and effective prioritization of deliverables.
- Provides technical expertise, guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to peers and less experienced team members, without direct supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- University degree, paralegal diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in supply chain management, procurement, contract management, commercial contracting, legal operations, or in-house paralegal support.
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex supplier agreements using standardized templates, approved alternate language, and defined negotiation frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of commercial contract principles, including indemnification, limitation of liability, insurance, warranties, confidentiality, assignment, termination rights, payment terms, scope management, and entity-related considerations.
- Proven ability to evaluate business requirements and risk profiles to determine appropriate contracting strategies and solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex contractual concepts into practical business guidance.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, multiple negotiations, tight deadlines, and stakeholder expectations in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, electronic signature platforms, Oracle, and contract management or workflow tracking systems.
Preferred:
- Professional certification in contract management, procurement, supply chain management, paralegal studies, or commercial contracting (e.g., World Commerce & Contracting, IACCM, SCM-related certifications).
- Experience within the energy, utilities, oil and gas, engineering, construction, industrial services, or infrastructure sectors.
- Knowledge of joint venture contracting, supplier onboarding processes, contract playbooks, alternate clause libraries, master agreement strategies, process improvement initiatives, and contract analytics or negotiation trend analysis.
