Cable Technician
Pay Rate: $20.00 – $23.00/hour, depending on experience + $3.00 shift Differential
Work Location: Onsite – Odessa, TX 79763
Work Schedule: Night Shift | 6:00 pm – 6:00 am | 11 days on, 3 days off | Every other Friday/Saturday/Sunday
Duration: 6-month contract with possible extension/conversion based on performance and other factors.
Additional Information: Standard Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) are required.
Raise is currently hiring a Cable Technician on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Responsibilities:
- Build, repair, and maintain moderately complex Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) cables.
- Perform precision splicing and spooling operations on ESP cables.
- Conduct high-voltage testing on cables to ensure operational safety and performance.
- Accurately complete and maintain all required testing reports and technical documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of experience installing, repairing, Electrical Submersible Pump cable preferred (not required).
- Candidates with general mechanical or electrical aptitude, or similar cable experience, can be trained.
- High voltage electrical safety training is provided internally.
- Basic electrical background due to safety critical nature of the work.
- Forklift experience.
- Mechanical aptitude (automotive, diesel, shop or mechanical background could translate well).
- Strong safety mindset; role is safety sensitive with strict standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic troubleshooting skills for electrical equipment.
- Basic computer skills with programs like Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to read and write English.

Physical Demands and Job Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and move 10-20 lbs regularly.
- Capable of climbing ladders, stairs, and scaffolding while maintaining balance on narrow or slippery surfaces.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks involving bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- High hand dexterity for intricate work, including cable splicing, picking, and manipulating small parts.
- Ability to perceive size, shape, and texture of objects through touch.
- Strong close-range vision for inspecting small defects or parts; must also have the visual acuity required to operate motor vehicles.
- Ability to receive detailed oral instructions and communicate clearly and quickly in loud or fast-paced environments.
- Strong hand-eye coordination for the operation of machinery and tools.
- Must pass drug testing for this safety-sensitive role.
- Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor settings, including exposure to extreme heat (100°F+), noise, and atmospheric conditions (dust, fumes, or odors).
- Ability to work safely around moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, and industrial oils/fluids.
Safety Requirements:
- Required PPE: Electrically rated steel toe boots.
