- Fly-In, Fly-Out (FIFO) position
- 7 days on / 7 days off rotation (Wednesday to Wednesday) Flights from Calgary or Edmonton
Raise is currently hiring a Auto & Equipment Service Technician on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
Reporting to the NPI Coordinator, the Automotive & Equipment Service Technician (Contract Auto & Equipment Service Tech), is a safety-focused, self-directed professional responsible for maintaining and repairing light-duty fleet and support equipment. This role provides hands-on technical expertise to support NPI operations and Business Units while reinforcing strong safety culture, operational reliability, and contractor accountability standards.
The position operates in a Fly-In, Fly-Out (FIFO) capacity and requires the ability to work independently in remote, demanding environments while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders, safety leadership, and contracted resources.
Responsibilities
- Execute routine and non-routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet and field equipment, including:
- Pickup trucks, Light towers, Generators, ATVs and UTVs, Miscellaneous mobile and stationary support equipment
- Complete assigned work in alignment with direction from the NPI Coordinator and site priorities.
- Perform comprehensive equipment inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic faults.
- Diagnose issues and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand tools, power tools, and OEM diagnostic platforms.
- Conduct post-repair testing to confirm equipment operates safely and meets manufacturer and specifications.
- Accurately complete internal work orders, maintenance logs, and fleet records in a timely manner.
- Order parts and receive materials as required to support maintenance activities.
- Provide technical guidance, on-site oversight, and quality assurance for contracted labor when required.
- Collaborate closely with the Fleet Coordinator, Safety Leads, and site teams to ensure all job plans reflect current safety, environmental, and operational considerations.
- Plan and execute all work in strict adherence to Energy safety policies, including the STOP–THINK–PLAN program.
- Actively participate in hazard identification, risk mitigation, and continuous safety improvement.
- Report incidents, near misses, and hazards in accordance with protocols and assist with corrective and preventative action follow-up.
- Maintain professionalism and contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and cooperative work environment.
Qualifications
- Technical Experience
- Advanced vehicle diagnostics and repair using OEM diagnostic platforms
- Advanced troubleshooting and repair in:
- Electrical systems
- Electronic control systems
- Hydraulic systems
- A/C systems
- Proficient with diagnostic tools, troubleshooting procedures, and service documentation
- Experience maintaining mixed light-duty and industrial equipment fleets
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement
- Current H2S Alive and Standard First Aid certifications
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision in a remote FIFO environment
- Assets
- Experience with Ford and Kubota equipment as asset
- Previous oil & gas, mining, or remote industrial work environment experience
- Education and Certifications
- Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years Journeyman experience as an Automotive Service Technician or similar experience
- Automotive Service Technician Journeyman Certificate required
- Red Seal Journeyman Certification and asset
