Accounting Analyst

Job Overview
Responsible for supporting the client’s finance operations through accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis. This role plays a key part in month-end close activities, maintaining data integrity across systems, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements. The position also contributes to process improvements and provides insights to support business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and support month-end close activities, including journal entries, system adjustments, reconciliations, and reporting
- Perform monthly account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Maintain integrity of data across billing, reporting, and ERP systems
- Assist in maintaining, updating, and documenting internal control policies and procedures
- Provide financial analysis and management reporting on both a recurring and ad hoc basis
- Liaise with internal and external auditors on SOX processes and controls, particularly related to sales
- Ensure compliance with key and non-key SOX controls
- Support team members through collaboration and cross-training initiatives
- Develop and enhance reporting processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency and best practices
- Identify and implement process and system improvements to drive operational efficiency
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function
Qualifications
- University degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related role
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with SAP, Oracle, EPBCS, or Power BI is an asset
- Experience working within a large organization is preferred
- Experience in the energy or utilities sector is considered an asset
