  • Contract Length: 1 Year
  • Location: Key Lake, Saskatchewan
  • Fly In Fly Out Camp accommodations provided
  • Rotation (2 weeks in-2weeks out, 11 hours a day)
  • Company Charter Flights provided – Departing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
  • Contractors are expected to travel to Saskatoon for chartered flights to camp sites.

They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.

Description

The Control of Hazardous Energy (COHE) Coordinator is a critical safety and operational leadership role responsible for the integrity of lockout and energy isolation processes. This position serves as the central hub between Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams to ensure all high-risk activities—including confined space entries and system break-ins—are executed with zero harm. You will provide technical oversight, manage documentation, and champion a culture of accountability at a major industrial site.

Responsibilities            

  • Ensure all lockout and energy isolation processes and supporting systems are up-to-date, fully resourced, comply with OH&S regulations, and are in alignment with the site’s policies and procedures
  • Provide oversight for the lockout and energy isolation processes across site
  • Act as the primary liaison between Operations, Maintenance, Contractors, and Project Management teams for organizing lockout, confined space, and break in activities
  • Ensure all necessary lock out resources and documentation are prepared, maintained, and ready for use
  • Work with the Safety and Training Departments to update lock out policy and train employees, as needed
  • Work closely with Coordinators and Planners to ensure tasks are planned and scheduled
  • Attend daily and weekly meetings

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in a heavy industrial environment (Mining, Milling, or Oil & Gas) with Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or coordinator capacity, with the ability to motivate teams and drive accountability.
  • Proven track record of managing complex COHE/Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) programs in an industrial plant or mill setting.
  • Experience managing energy isolation programs with a focus on safety performance.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical single-line diagrams, and mechanical drawings to verify isolation points.
  • Optimized Scheduling coordination of isolations that minimized downtime during maintenance outages or turnarounds.
  • Experience with Audit-Ready Documentation, Development of structured LOTO libraries and procedures that meet or exceed regulatory audits.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration, experience with resolving conflicting priorities between different departments (e.g., Maintenance vs. Production).
  • Safety Leadership, proactive approach to identifying hazards before they become incidents.
  • Deep understanding of provincial OH&S regulations specifically regarding energy isolation and confined space entry.
  • Education and Certifications
  • Technical Foundation: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering OR Journeyperson Status in a relevant trade (Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechanical).
