Raise is currently hiring a Senior Business Analyst on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our client is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

Reporting to the Manager, Program Delivery & Business Analysis, we are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Business Analyst with a background in the electrical utility sector to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in analyzing business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and driving strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This role is responsible for understanding the business requirements, and configuring, designing, and delivering best-fit solutions. The initial contract will be for one year with the possibility of extension. We support a hybrid work environment, where the team is in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays are flexible for where you work best.

Project Overview

Our Client is embarking upon a major restructuring of the Alberta Energy Market. The Restructured Energy Market (REM) program will be a major organization wide multi-year undertaking involving implementing new 3rd party systems, integration with other new and existing systems, to deploy a new Energy Settlement System (ESS) and Marketing Management System (MMS) into operations within an aggressive timeline (~3 years).

Responsibilities             

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of business processes, systems, and data within the electrical utility domain. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project objectives, and develop business cases for proposed initiatives.
  •  Support the design, implementation, and optimization of business processes and systems.
  • Utilize analytical tools and techniques to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive informed decision-making.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies in the electrical utility sector.
  • Support the cross organizational activities.
  • Mentor and support junior staff and assist in SCRUM Master duties as required

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in business analysis or a related role, with specific experience in the electrical utility industry.
  • Strong understanding of electrical utility operations, including grid management, asset management, and customer engagement.
  •  Ability to learn new material rapidly
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, such as SQL, Excel, and data visualization software.
  •  Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  •  Proven track record of leading successful projects from inception to implementation, delivering measurable business value.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements in the electrical utility sector. Experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies to ensure stakeholder buy-in. Experience managing multiple cross-functional projects to implement new and complex business lines. Adaptability and resilience to respond to evolving priorities and timelines.
  •  Effective communicator with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree  Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering (Electrical preferred), or Information Technology
  • Nice to have Certifications CBAP, PMI-PBA, Prosci ect)
