Quality Technician
Pay Rate: Up to $25.00/hour on W2, depending on experience
Work Type: Onsite – Houston, TX 77041
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday | 6:00 am – 2:30 pm | Occasional Overtime and Weekends
Duration: 6-month contract with possibility of extension and/or conversion based on performance and other factors.
Additional Details: Standard Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) are required.
Raise is currently hiring a Quality Technician on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical instructions to inspect materials, parts, and sub-assemblies.
- Ensure manufactured and purchased products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and industry-standard AQL sampling plans.
- Read and interpret material test reports and heat treat/mechanical certifications; complete and distribute quality records.
- Perform routine checks on "red tag" bins to ensure adherence to Nonconforming Report (NCR) procedures.
- Participate in Lean events and contribute to Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
- Investigate customer complaints, nonconforming products, and returned goods; initiate corrective action requests.
- Proactively communicate quality issues and recommend changes to enhance product quality.
- Immediately report any unsafe acts or hazardous conditions to supervision.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing quality inspection.
- Proficient with Calipers, Micrometers, Bore Gauges, Optical Comparators, Hardness Testers, and Height Gauges.
- Strong understanding of Machine Shop In-process Inspection, Engineering Change Notices (ECN), and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to interpret material certifications and mechanical/heat treat reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience utilizing ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and QMS (Quality Management Software) platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Must have a professional, positive, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Able to work independently and effectively within a team; shows respect, tact, and concern for others.
- Open to change and capable of managing ambiguity and evolving information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to follow and execute instructions clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with Oracle ERP and Entropy QMS.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat/Creative Cloud.
- Knowledge of ANSI, ASME, and ISO 9001.
- Experience operating and programming CMM equipment (FARO/ROMER arm experience is a plus).
Work Environment:
- Enclosed shop quality lab environment with an open workspace.
- Use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and glove.
