Structural Engineer

Raise is currently hiring a Structural Engineer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.
Description
The Structural Engineer will join our clients corporate engineering team in Saskatoon. In this role, you will independently advance structural engineering designs for diverse projects across industrial, mining, and nuclear facility portfolios. Working out of our corporate headquarters, you will collaborate closely with structural designers and project teams, while receiving mentorship and high-level guidance from senior engineering staff. This role offers a balance of technical autonomy and collaborative project delivery in a critical sector.
Responsibilities
- Structural Design & Analysis: Execute structural engineering design work for steel members, structural framing, reinforced concrete structures, and wood design. Design critical utility and building service supports, including pipe racks and cable tray systems.
- Compliance & Code Application: Ensure all designs align strictly with the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), National Fire Code of Canada (NFCC), and relevant industry standards (CSA S16, CSA A23.1-4), including nuclear-specific frameworks like CSA N393.
- Modeling & Drawing Collaboration: Work alongside structural and architectural designers to guide CAD workflows, supporting the development of robust 3D models and detailed 2D construction drawings.
- Project Documentation: Author, review, and revise technical specifications, scopes of supply, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Material Take-Offs (MTOs), and Construction Work Packages (CWPs).
- Site Engagement: Conduct occasional on-site visits to ’s Northern Saskatchewan and/or Ontario operations to support project scoping, field verification, and construction alignment.
Qualifications
- 10+ Years of experience with a proven track record navigating heavy industrial or mining infrastructure environments, with a demonstrated ability to progress engineering deliverables independently before senior sign-off.
- Dual Material Mastery (Steel & Concrete verifiable experience design-engineering both structural steel framing and reinforced concrete structures, with supplementary wood design considered a strong asset.
- Advanced Software Competency (STAAD.Pro & Mathcad): Hands-on experience running complex structural analyses using STAAD.Pro, alongside a strong routine of executing and documenting design calculations using Mathcad and advanced Excel sheets.
- Heavy Industrial Code Fluency: Direct application of NBCC and NFCC building codes, alongside rigorous working knowledge of CSA S16 (Steel), CSA A23 (Concrete), and CSA N393 (Nuclear/Industrial systems).
- Construction Package Deliverables: A clear history of creating procurement and execution-ready documentation, specifically technical specs, BOMs, MTOs, and Construction Work Packages (CWPs).
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil/Structural Engineering
- P.Eng. designation with APEGS (or immediate eligibility to transfer). Active registration with PEO (Ontario) is a highly valued asset to support inter-provincial project footprints.
Additional Information
- Candidates in this role will be working a hybrid schedule of at least 3 days in the office.
- Projects will be based at our clients Northern Saskatchewan and/or Ontario sites. Individual will be required to visit occasionally to these sites (as required).
- As this is a safety Sensitive Role Pre-access substance testing will be required
