The Raise has partnered with our client, a leading organization within the nuclear energy sector, recognized for delivering complex engineering, manufacturing, and project execution solutions supporting nuclear power generation initiatives. They are seeking experienced Civil Engineers with strong nuclear industry expertise to join their team supporting major nuclear projects.
Overview:
- Under broad supervision, performing higher complexity engineering assignments requiring originality, ingenuity, and the development of new methods or resolution of conflicting objectives by using established methodologies and applying sound engineering principles.
- Providing advanced structural technical support, guides and reviews the work of other team members.
- Providing civil/structural design engineering support for Steam Generator Replacement Project. Roles include development and verification of calculations as well as analysis of existing structures to support project execution.
- Providing engineering justification/approval for requested construction changes and support required design changes to existing engineering documents. Providing knowledge in structural steel and concrete design and installation, and the ability to quickly resolve field issues which warrant engineering changes.
Major Duties
- Perform a variety of more complex engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, and resolution of field problems.
- Prepare Design Change Notice (DCN) packages in accordance with customer engineering change procedures.
- Support field construction and execution activities including field change notices, design revisions, commissioning, and EC closeout.
- Receive minimal assistance and instruction on most assignments and solutions.
- Ensure compliance with government, organization, and customer engineering standards including CSA S16, A23.3, N291, S136, and S157.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making more complex adaptations and modifications.
- Develop new or adapted products, methods, systems, or models to provide added value solutions to customers.
- Research and assess best practices, proposing methods and improvements.
- Coordinate engineering work performed by subcontractors and vendors.
- Coordinate, review, and verify work performed by junior staff.
- Coordinate change requests from construction and procurement.
- Work on special projects, as directed.
- Perform other related duties and tasks, as required.
Must Have Requirements
· Professional Engineering Designation in Ontario (P.Eng.)
· Nuclear industry experience – Bruce Power experience preferred
· Minimum 5 years of nuclear experience
· Nuclear Security Clearance
Skills & Knowledge
· Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques, and criteria.
· Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
· Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
· Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
· Strong understanding of structural steel and reinforced concrete design principles.
· Experience supporting engineering changes and construction activities within nuclear environments.
· Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams in highly regulated environments.
