Microsoft Azure Security Specialist
- Pay Rate: $82.81/hour, depending on experience

Raise is currently hiring a Microsoft Azure Security Specialist on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Microsoft Azure Security Specialist in this role will be responsible for reviewing, implementing, and verifying security configurations and workloads within our Azure Cloud Landing Zone. You will serve as a critical technical resource ensuring that cloud migrations, native Azure services, and threat detection frameworks meet ’s stringent security and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Cloud Security Engineering & Governance
- Landing Zone Validation: Review, validate, and harden security configurations across Azure services, including networking, identity, and landing zone architecture patterns (IaaS, PaaS).
- Control Implementation: Support and deploy robust security controls within Azure environments using native tools like Azure Policy, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and Azure Key Vault.
- Migration Reviews: Assess application migrations to cloud environments, ensuring secure architecture, compliance alignment, and proper data protection mechanisms.
- Security Operations & Threat Management
- SIEM Management: Provide operational support for Microsoft Sentinel infrastructure. This includes configuring data connectors, writing/tuning analytics rules, and managing log analytics workspaces.
- Incident Response: Actively monitor, triage alerts, investigate incidents, and perform proactive threat hunting within the Azure ecosystem.
- Collaboration & Advisory
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner closely with application teams, cloud infrastructure resources, and cybersecurity stakeholders to guarantee secure deployments.
- Continuous Improvement: Provide ongoing operational support and advisory to technical teams to bridge security gaps throughout the lifecycle of cloud workloads.
Qualifications
- (7) years of working experience in Information Technology with at least five (5) years in cyber security or equivalent.
- Proven experience implementing and supporting Microsoft Azure security solutions in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles, including identity and access management, network security, data protection, and threat detection.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel, including data connectors, analytics rules, incident management, and threat hunting.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing application migrations to cloud environments, including assessing secure architecture, landing zones, and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Azure services such as Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, Log Analytics, and Key Vault.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, NSGs, private endpoints) and cloud architecture patterns (IaaS, PaaS).
- Nice to have:
- Knowledge of secure DevOps (DevSecOps) practices and integration of security into CI/CD pipelines is an asset.
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent
- Possession of the following certifications will be viewed favorably and may result in increased consideration during candidate evaluation.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
- Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100)
- Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
