Advisor, Joint Venture Accounting

  • Contract Length: 1 Year
  • Pay Rate: $47 – $50/hr (W2)

Raise is currently pooling a contract team member for an upcoming Advisor, Joint Venture Accounting role. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Job Overview 

The Advisor, Joint Venture Accounting is responsible for managing the financial and accounting activities related to the client’s joint venture arrangements. This role serves as a primary point of contact for joint venture financial matters, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cash management, compliance with partnership agreements, and optimization of joint venture performance. The position works closely with internal business partners, external stakeholders, and joint venture partners to support financial operations, budgeting, reporting, audits, regulatory filings, and strategic initiatives. The Advisor leverages strong accounting expertise, analytical capabilities, and business acumen to provide actionable recommendations and ensure compliance with financial, regulatory, and contractual requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and financial reports for internal management and joint venture partners.
  • Prepare, review, and approve monthly journal entries, including joint venture billings and related accounting transactions.
  • Conduct financial research, analysis, and investigation of ad hoc requests, inquiries, and issues from partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets for internal management and individual joint venture entities.
  • Coordinate and administer partner cash calls, cash distributions, and related cash management activities.
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual regulatory filings, including FERC Form 2 and Form 3 reports, where applicable.
  • Perform account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial performance reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including quarterly and year-end audit activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, internal policies, accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with financial terms and obligations outlined in partnership and joint venture agreements.
  • Support the optimization of joint venture financial performance, including cost recovery initiatives and process improvements.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and mentorship to analysts and junior team members.
  • Participate in special projects, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional business activities as required.
  • Develop actionable recommendations for management, auditors, and joint venture stakeholders to address financial, operational, or compliance-related issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of accounting, financial reporting, joint venture accounting, audit, or related experience.
  • CPA designation preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Experience supporting audits, regulatory reporting, and internal control compliance activities.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and financial governance practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with financial reporting and accounting systems.
  • Experience working with partnerships, joint ventures, energy, utilities, infrastructure, or regulated industries is considered an asset.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Business Development teams on partnership negotiations, budget development, partner relationship management, and management committee support.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory, Legal, Treasury, Tax, Investor Relations, Financial Reporting, and FP&A teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective business decision-making.
  • Serve as a key accounting contact for joint venture partners, supporting financial reporting, forecasting, accounting policy discussions, and partnership audits.
  • Work closely with independent auditors and partner audit teams by facilitating audit activities, providing supporting documentation, and addressing financial inquiries.
