Project Controller (Intermediate)
Pay Rate: Up to $47.33/hour, depending on experience
Contract Length: 2 years

Raise is currently hiring a Project Controller (Intermediate) on behalf of our client. They're expanding their project delivery team to support major capital infrastructure projects, making this an excellent opportunity to contribute to complex engineering and construction initiatives while working alongside experienced project professionals. Our Client, is one of North America's leading energy infrastructure companies with operations in natural gas, oil and power industries throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Project Controller provides project management support across the full project lifecycle, including project initiation, cost management, forecasting, scheduling, progress measurement, reporting, and project closeout. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Accounting teams, the successful candidate will help ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with organizational objectives.
Responsibilities
Project Controls & Cost Management
- Support the development and execution of project controls plans for capital projects.
- Establish and maintain project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), budgets, and cost controls within SAP.
- Review project estimates and align costs with the approved control budget.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, forecasts, and estimate-at-completion (EAC) updates.
- Maintain project funding information and ensure appropriate authorization for expenditures.
- Update cost management systems with time-phased budgets, contractor progress, and project trends.
- Prepare incurred cost reports, variance analyses, cost forecasts, and financial summaries.
Project Monitoring & Reporting
- Review project schedules and monitor key project milestones.
- Track project performance using cost, schedule, and earned value metrics.
- Monitor project trends and maintain project trend logs.
- Prepare project scorecards, dashboards, cost reports, and executive presentations.
- Support project forecasting through collaboration with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
- Participate in project risk review meetings and update budgets and forecasts as required.
Project Administration
- Process requisitions for project materials and services.
- Review contractor invoices and verify alignment with incurred project costs.
- Monitor contractor progress and provide input into estimate-at-completion forecasts.
- Support administrative, financial, and system closeout activities.
- Provide general project controls support to Senior Project Controls personnel.
Qualifications
- University degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, Finance, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of related project controls, project management, or cost management experience.
- Strong understanding of project controls principles, including cost management, forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, and reporting.
- Experience with SAP or similar enterprise project management systems.
- Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress measurement, and project forecasting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting large-scale capital engineering, pipeline, facilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Field project experience is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting projects through both development and execution phases.
- Familiarity with project cost reporting, contractor management, and financial analysis.
