QA/QC Technician
- Pay Rate: $25.00/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 8 months
- Location: Onsite | Saskatoon, SK S7R 1A3
- Work Schedule: Day Shift | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM |Occasional Sunday work (up to twice a month) may be required, with Friday provided as a day off.

Job Overview
To perform quality control procedures for raw materials, intermediate and finished products for the location.
Responsibilities
- Testing inoculants using serial dilutions, bacterial enumeration, purity testing, sieve/bulk densities, pH analysis and moisture content to ensure the manufactured inoculants meet the required specifications.
- Testing raw and intermediate materials consumed in the production of inoculants using streak plates, pH analysis, moisture content determination and bacterial enumeration for conformance.
- Monitoring and testing bacterial cultures using purity and streak plating, gram staining and spectrophotometry to ensure cultures meet required specifications for use in production.
- Daily lab activities/cleaning including but not limited to equipment calibrations, validations, glassware and media preparation.
- Quality Control technicians are responsible for accurately calculating and recording QC data into spreadsheets or forms which are used to make decisions regarding conformance of inoculants produced in Saskatoon.
Work environment (extent of interaction with Supervisor(s) for approval, concurrence, resolutions, etc.).
- This position is a part of the local Quality Control team reporting to Quality Assurance Manager.
- Daily activities may need to be coordinated with the R&D Technicians who share the Laboratory
- The employee will assume additional tasks and duties as assigned by management.
- The employee must be capable of lifting up to 23 kg (50 lb) and standing for extended periods.
- Hazardous chemicals and pesticides are used in the lab however personal protective equipment is readily available. In addition, all Quality Control Technicians are required to take WHMIS training
Business environment (economic or technological conditions dealt with on a regular basis).
- The incumbent must stay abreast of the changing business/economic, environment, business requirements and organizational priorities as well as business environment issues and legislative changes. He/she must be able to effectively manage tight specifications and attention to detail to ensure that product will meet customer expectations
- The employee may be asked to assume responsibility for some security and control of the facility on the off-shifts.
- The employee will complete Non-conformance reports (NCMs) as well as lead investigations as necessary.
Internal and external relationships (nature and frequency)
- This position requires a daily interaction with all Associates on site
- The employee will be responsible for completing all yearly performance reviews and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Degree in relevant science (Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry)
- 0-3 years experience
- Combination of diploma plus experience will be considered
- Solid computer skills: MS-Office, Internet
