Note: The primary pay rate is based on W2 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Senior Project Controls & Scheduling Specialist plays a critical role within our Project Services team, providing direct project management support to complex, high-risk capital engineering and construction programs across our clients US operations. In this role, you will lead the development, baseline establishment, and ongoing monitoring of Level 3–5 resource-loaded schedules. Working closely with Project Managers, EPC contractors, and multidisciplinary field teams, you will implement robust project control procedures to keep projects on scope, on budget, and on schedule from initial scope scoping through commissioning and start-up.
Responsibilities
- Schedule Planning & Baseline Management: Establish baseline criteria and construct complex, CPM-based (Critical Path Method) integrated master schedules (Level 3–5) for major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects across varying asset types.
- Standardization Alignment: Enforce strict adherence to ’s Standard Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), standard coding frameworks, and scheduling protocols across all project phases.
- Contractor & Third-Party Oversight: Evaluate, audit, and integrate third-party contractor schedules and progress data. Lead Interactive Planning (IAP) sessions to ensure contractor schedules are realistic, logical, and executable.
- Scope & Progress Monitoring: Continuously evaluate scope changes, field progress, productivity metrics, critical path shifts, and schedule variances. Recommend proactive remedial action plans to mitigate delays.
- Commissioning & Start-Up Integration: Collaborate with field operations to prepare, sequence, and integrate commissioning, turnover, and operational start-up schedules.
- Reporting & Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and synthesize cost and schedule data from cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, procurement, construction, and accounting) into clear performance reporting dashboards for leadership.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of related project planning/scheduling experience with a University Degree (or 15+ years of progressive experience in lieu of a degree).
- Advanced Scheduling Mastery: Demonstrated expertise in scheduling fundamentals—including critical path methodology (CPM), baselining, dependency mapping, constraint management, and managing Level 3–5 resource-loaded schedules within standard enterprise WBS frameworks.
- Capital Program Execution & Field Experience: Proven track record supporting high-risk capital projects or multi-asset infrastructure programs, including hands-on field/site experience during construction or commissioning phases.
- Interactive Planning & Third-Party Oversight: Direct experience facilitating interactive planning sessions and validating/analyzing third-party contractor progress data and schedules.
- Proficiency with enterprise scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6) and a track record of producing core project deliverables: Schedule Basis documentation, variance analysis, remedial action plans, and commissioning/start-up schedules.
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related technical discipline.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Office-based environment with standard operating hours, paired with 15%–25% field travel to active project sites, construction yards, and vendor facilities.
- Ability to navigate active field construction environments under varying weather conditions.
