Overview
Our client is seeking a Personnel, Cargo, & Vessel Coordinator to support deepwater Oil & Gas supply operations within the Global Upstream Supply Chain organization. This role owns and manages short-term marine and aviation vessel schedules, cargo movements, and personnel logistics, working from a preliminary balanced plan to build the most efficient and practical sailing schedules and port plans. The coordinator uses systems including SAP, KABAL, and DaWinci alongside marine planning and optimization tools to align demand with vessel capacity and operational constraints, then partners with the Global Upstream Supply Chain Hub team, shorebase teams, and other stakeholders when plans shift. Given the global footprint of company's deepwater portfolio, this role covers multiple regions and requires international travel, including to Africa and India, along with flexibility to work a 24/7 coverage model.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain short-term marine and aviation vessel schedules, cargo movements, and personnel logistics for deepwater offshore operations.
- Convert preliminary balanced plans into detailed, executable sailing schedules and port plans, applying marine planning judgment alongside company optimization tools.
- Drive key planning and operational decisions, including sailing frequency, vessel and cargo allocations, personnel movements, and vessel service requests, balancing safety and cost efficiency.
- Monitor live vessel and aviation operations, including arrival and departure times, loading and unloading progress, maintenance, and personnel movements, proactively identifying emerging issues.
- Partner with the Global Upstream Supply Chain Hub team, shorebase operators, third-party vendors, and business unit stakeholders to confirm plan adherence and resolve scheduling conflicts.
- Assess and mitigate operational risks such as weather, tides, port congestion, and asset constraints, developing contingency scenarios as needed.
- Manage schedule deviations and break-in requests, evaluating trade-offs and cost or service impacts, and drive cross-functional alignment across as many as ten stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate vessel schedules, port plans, and manifests in KABAL and related planning systems, keeping them aligned with actual operations.
- Present cargo allocation and routing scenarios during monthly planning sessions, highlighting trade-offs when schedules face churn or capacity busts.
- Build strong working relationships across Drilling, Wells, Maintenance, Subsea, and Projects, along with marine advisors and the aviation team, to support integrated logistics planning.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by refining SOPs, workflows, and planning tools, and by coaching incoming team members through shadowing and hands-on training.
- Travel internationally, including to Africa and India, and operate within a 24/7 coverage model to support global deepwater operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a marine operations, marine engineering, or equivalent maritime background preferred, plus business-level English fluency (written and verbal).
- 5+ years of experience in infield logistics, cargo and vessel coordination, or marine/vessel operations, ideally within deepwater Oil & Gas or offshore drilling; strong logistics backgrounds from shipping, ports, maritime operations, or aviation will also be considered.
- Experience across multiple vessel types (e.g., MFPSV, PSV, AHTS, IMR, FSV, tugs) or comparable exposure to vessel and marine logistics planning and coordination.
- Familiarity with warehouse and shorebase operations, including materials picking, staging, containerization, and shipment (e.g., trucking).
- Strong cost and commercial awareness, with the ability to evaluate vessel day rates, fuel use, third-party service costs, and service-level trade-offs.
- Willingness to work within a 24/7 coverage model (e.g., 7-days on, 7-days off, 12-hour shifts) with overtime as required, and to travel internationally, including to Africa and India.
- Strong critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate trade-offs, question assumptions, and prioritize integrated business objectives over siloed targets.
- Proven ability to coordinate with diverse, cross-regional, cross-cultural stakeholders to resolve live operational issues and schedule changes, with clear communication under time pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with vessel planning and execution systems, particularly SAP, KABAL, or DaWinci (familiarity with HeliPass or OneLogistics is a plus).
- Experience with deepwater drilling operations.
- Exposure to marine service requirements beyond cargo movement (e.g., passenger movements, tanker connect/disconnect operations, subsea operations, environmental audits).
- Exposure to crane operations.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or developing others in marine scheduling processes and systems.
- Previous exposure or experience with client’s Deepwater businesses.
