Laboratory Technician
- Pay Rate: $30.09/hour (on W2)
- Contract Length: 2 months with possible extension and/or conversion
- Location: Avon, OH 44011
- Work Hours: Monday – Friday | 7:30 – 4:00 PM to start (may change based on facility needs)
Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Responsibilities
- Open and close the lab daily (e.g., turn on/off mercury lumex, ensure gas is off, turn flash units on/off).
- Review verification sheets to determine required testing correlating with disposal sites (e.g., mercury, flashpoint, physical/fingerprint, bomb calorimeter for BTU and % Cl, and % water if needed).
- Differentiate between hazardous and non-hazardous materials for retains.
- Verify results match proper disposal site requirements and enter data/final coding in EnviroWare, adding disposal notes as needed.
- Look up test results in EnviroWare when plant personnel request specific sample information.
- Follow discrepancy procedures (e.g., request resamples for pH or flashpoint issues, and email appropriate team members to continue the discrepancy process once verified).
- Comply with standards and check scales weekly using provided weights.
- Inspect safety shower and eye wash stations weekly, recording completion on the appropriate tags.
- Prepare needed reagents and maintain chemical/lab inventory, notifying appropriate personnel for reordering.
- Work together with the team to dispose of samples past their hold date.
- Maintain a clean lab environment at all times.
Professional Standards & Communication
- Maintain positive working relationships with all facility personnel when answering sample questions.
- Communicate professionally and clearly explain technical details to help others understand.
- Work collaboratively as a supportive team member.
- Be proactive in processing incoming samples and asking questions when unsure.
- Handle conflicts directly with involved parties before escalating to the Supervisor and Lab Manager.
- Assist plant personnel on active facility projects as needed.
Protective Equipment Required
- Steel toe boots required.

- High School Diploma/GED Required
