Telecom Ops Project Manager – Part Time
- Pay Rate: $90.08 – $110.83/hour, depending on experience

Raise is currently hiring a Telecom Ops Project Manager – Part Time on behalf of our client. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to lead complex projects supporting telecom operations, technology infrastructure, networking, software, and business process change initiatives. Our client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
We are currently hiring a Telecom Ops Project Manager – Part Time to support a portfolio of projects within a Grid Telecom Operations environment.
The successful candidate will lead medium to high-risk and highly complex projects from planning through implementation and transition to operations. Projects may involve telecom infrastructure upgrades, hardware and server replacements, software implementations and upgrades, networking changes, network monitoring systems, device testing environments, and integration of new technologies or processes.
This role requires a highly organized and experienced Project Manager who can lead cross-functional teams, manage vendors and stakeholders, oversee budgets and schedules, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project management and coordination activities for assigned projects and initiatives.
- Plan, direct, monitor, and report on medium to high-risk and highly complex projects.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, milestones, and delivery timelines.
- Lead delivery teams consisting of business stakeholders, vendors, internal suppliers, and technical resources.
- Coordinate project activities through design, planning, procurement, proof of concept, implementation, testing, verification, and transition to operations.
- Understand business requirements, project objectives, proposed scope, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
- Establish and maintain project schedules while actively managing milestones and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain project risk management plans and identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate project risks.
- Maintain RAID logs covering risks, actions, issues, and decisions.
- Lead project and program check-in meetings, including agenda preparation, action tracking, and follow-up.
- Establish effective communication and collaboration environments to support project success.
- Maintain meaningful relationships with stakeholders through regular communication, reporting, and presentations.
- Prepare regular project and program status reports using established templates and reporting schedules.
- Establish and manage financial trackers, including forecasts, actuals, accruals, and variance analysis.
- Monitor project benefits, resources, budget, scope, schedule, and overall project health.
- Manage key decisions, changes, dependencies, and trade-offs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Negotiate priorities and trade-offs while ensuring project teams understand their responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Apply established project management frameworks, tools, standards, and processes to support successful delivery.
- Ensure project scope and requirements are addressed throughout implementation.
- Coordinate testing, verification, implementation, and troubleshooting activities.
- Support transition to operations and ensure completion of required transition documentation.
- Prepare completion and acceptance documentation to formally close projects.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews and document lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, with quality, within budget, and on schedule.
Project Environment
Projects supported by this role may include:
- Telecom infrastructure and asset replacements, including servers and technology tools.
- Software implementations, upgrades, and installations.
- Network configuration and infrastructure changes.
- Network Monitoring Systems (NMS) implementations, upgrades, and replacements.
- Integration of new or existing software and processes into enterprise systems.
- Physical updates to device testing and laboratory spaces.
- Hardware replacements and technology refresh initiatives.
- Telecom operations and infrastructure improvements.
- Technology and business process change initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 9 years of project management experience, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing medium to high-risk and complex projects.
- Proven experience leading end-to-end project delivery from planning through implementation and transition to operations.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams involving business stakeholders, vendors, internal suppliers, and technical teams.
- Strong project planning, scheduling, risk management, financial management, and reporting skills.
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, actuals, accruals, and variance analysis.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies, risks, issues, and project changes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish clear accountabilities, deadlines, and project expectations.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills in a professional environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and attend the office as required.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in telecommunications operations.
- Experience with telecom cybersecurity projects or environments.
- Previous experience working within a large utility, infrastructure, or similarly complex enterprise environment.
- Previous experience supporting projects within the client or a comparable organization.
- Experience working with capital project programs and annual funding cycles..
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred.
Additional Information
- Hybrid work arrangement with office attendance required based on project and business needs.
- This is a part-time assignment, generally requiring approximately 2–3 days per week.
- The position is based in Langley, British Columbia, with work also potentially required at other designated office locations.
