Risk Analyst – Expert
- Location: Toronto, ON – Hybrid – (2 days per week in office. Wednesday and Thursday, 1st Friday of the month)
- Pay Rate: $82.39/hr – $95.23/hr
- Contract Length: 53 days or until Oct 31; an extension may be possible according to business needs.

Responsibilities:
- Act as a Control Advisor supporting various Risk Lines of Business (LOBs) in identifying, documenting, and enhancing controls related to regulatory compliance risks. Conduct control testing and internal audits to assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Risk Management, Audit, and Compliance to ensure alignment of control activities with enterprise risk objectives.
- Analyze operational, legal, market, credit, strategic, and liquidity risks to support informed decision-making.
- Develop and maintain documentation of control processes, risk assessments, and audit findings.
- Provide recommendations for control enhancements and process improvements based on audit results and risk analysis.
- Support the implementation of control frameworks and contribute to the development of risk policies and procedures.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on existing controls and risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
(50% Project Tempo Support & QA / 50% BAU Control Testing)
Project Tempo Support & QA (50%)
Background: Banking established Program Tempo in FY25 to enhance the regulatory governance environment by assessing all regulatory requirements and ensuring they are linked with controls. Where gaps were identified, new controls were created for complying with the requirements. Beginning in FY26, Bank is now focused on evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of these newly created or identified regulatory controls. Banking hired an external audit firm (PwC) to perform control testing, while bank is responsible for quality assurance (QA) and coordination between business partners and PwC.
- Coordinate with PwC and Risk Management business partners throughout the control testing process.
- Collect and organize control documentation and respond to requests for information (RFIs).
- Attend walkthrough meetings and facilitate timely responses to RFIs or follow-up requests from PwC.
- Perform QA reviews of PwC’s testing results and provide sign-off on testing documentation and support the resolution of any identified issues.
- Track timelines, manage deliverables, and ensure all deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.
Business-as-Usual (BAU) Control Testing (50%)
Conduct control testing for business-as-usual controls, unrelated to Program Tempo.
- Conducted Walkthrough, require and assessing the RFIs and complete the testing template to assessing the control design and operation.
- Collaborate with business partners to address issues and implement improvements as required.
Must Have Requirement:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in risk management, internal audit, or regulatory compliance
- Experience in control advisory or testing in Risk Management and Audit- 3 years
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in internal audit and control testing
- Strong background in risk management, including identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies
- Comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks and requirements
Nice to Have Skills:
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, CIA, or equivalent.
