We’re hiring SAT Testing Staff to support upcoming SAT administrations at Tacoma Community College.
Test Dates
- Saturday, November 7, 2026 – Half Day (6:30 AM–11:30 AM)
- Saturday, December 5, 2026 – Full Day (6:30 AM–4:30 PM)
This is a great opportunity to earn extra income while supporting students on an important testing day. The role is a good fit for teachers, substitute teachers, education staff, college students, event staff, hospitality professionals, student services staff, and anyone comfortable helping manage groups in an organized setting
No prior testing experience is required. Full training will be provided.
It’s also a chance to join our future SAT testing staff pool. Staff who perform well and remain in good standing may be invited to support additional SAT administrations, with opportunities expected through 2028 based on site needs and future testing schedules.
What You’ll Earn
- November 7 (Half Day): $250
- December 5 (Full Day): $400
Pay includes the mandatory 2-hour on-site training on the Friday before test day and the test day itself.
Required Training and Schedule
Online Training
Complete the required 1-hour Test Day Toolkit training as part of onboarding. Only your first online training session is paid, at $25.
On-Site Training
Friday before test day, 5:00–7:00 PM at Tacoma Community College:
- November 6, 2026 (for the November 7 test)
- December 4, 2026 (for the December 5 test)
Test Day
Saturday, arrival between 6:00 and 6:30 AM.
What You’ll Do
Depending on site needs, you may be assigned to one of the following roles. Roles may change on test day based on what’s needed.
- Proctor: Manage a testing room, verify student IDs, read and follow test instructions, monitor the testing environment, operate digital tools, and report any issues.
- Technology Monitor: Provide on-site technology support, help verify devices are ready, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and support smooth test-day operations.
- Support Role (Hall/Room Monitor): Support room setup and student check-in, monitor room conditions, monitor hallways and common areas, direct student traffic, support breaks, help maintain order, and keep the Test Coordinator informed of any concerns.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods during the AM session for half-day assignments, or during both the AM and PM sessions for full-day assignments
- Safely climb stairs throughout the day
- Occasionally move desks or chairs during room setup
- Help maintain an organized, distraction-free testing environment
Equipment and Device Requirements
Please bring your own laptop or tablet and your own smartphone.
Laptop or tablet
- A Windows or Mac laptop, Chromebook, iPad, or Android tablet works. Phones can’t be used for check-in.
- Your device must connect to both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. This is called dual-band. Most laptops and tablets made in the last 10 years support it. If you’re not sure, search your device model plus “5 GHz.”
- Use an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari browser.
- Bring your charger. You’ll use your device from check-in through dismissal.
Smartphone
- An iPhone or Android phone with WhatsApp installed and signed in. Your coordinator uses WhatsApp to share updates during the day.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years old (25 years old for Proctor)
- Not currently providing paid SAT tutoring
- Comfortable supporting students and following detailed instructions
- Comfortable assisting with digital check-in and basic device-related tasks
- Reliable access to the required devices listed above
- Able to help move desks and chairs if needed
- Experience in education, events, testing, hospitality, student services, or customer-facing roles is helpful but not required
